Bungie announced that the new Marathon game will be released in March, and now they’re sharing a trailer to confirm the exact date: March 5th. The trailer actually appeared online a bit early – it was found on the Xbox Community page for consoles. According to Resetera, you can watch it by going to the game’s listing in the store and adding it to your console’s Dashboard.
It looks like the new trailer accidentally went live early on Xbox, though some are blaming Bungie. An official announcement and the start of pre-orders are expected shortly. The trailer also showed off what’s included in the Deluxe Edition, like special weapon skins for the Overrun rifle and Misriah 2442 shotgun.
You’ll also receive the Midnight Decay bundle, giving you new looks for the Destroyer, Assassin, and Vandal Runner Shells. Plus, you might get to play the upcoming open beta before everyone else, if there is one.
While Bungie might have envisioned a different announcement, this is a major turning point for Marathon. The game’s development hasn’t been easy, with issues like the departure of the original director and an incident involving unauthorized use of artwork. The real challenge starts once the game is released, but it could be exactly what the studio needs to revitalize itself.
