Marathon’s PC Requirements Are Pretty Forgiving But Installation Space is a Mystery

Bungie announced that its new shooter game, Marathon, will be released on March 5th for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. You can now pre-order the game, and a Deluxe Edition with extra items and a Battle Pass is available for $59.99. We also found out who the voice actors are! Bungie quietly updated the game’s PC system requirements on Steam as well.

The game now has published system requirements. To run it, you’ll need at least an Intel Core i5-10400 or AMD Ryzen 5 3500 processor, 16GB of RAM, and a graphics card like an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 (with 6GB of VRAM), an AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT (8GB), or an Intel Arc A770 (16GB with ReBAR enabled). Players who participated in the first closed alpha test will be glad to know the requirements haven’t changed: a Core i5-6600 or Ryzen 5 2600, 8GB of RAM, and a GTX 1050 Ti (4GB), Radeon RX 5500 XT (4GB), or Arc A580 (8GB) will also work.

I’ve noticed one little thing that’s a bit unclear: they haven’t said exactly how much space the game will need. The small print says the storage requirements could go up, and you’ll need extra room for things like installation, features, and updates – including those mandatory in-game downloads. It sounds like they’re still figuring out the final size, which is understandable. But just like with most games that are constantly updated, expect the install size to grow after launch.

To learn more about Marathon, Bungie has a video explaining the different Runner Shells. It highlights the Rook, which can disguise itself as an enemy, making it perfect for scouting and gathering information.
