Margot Robbie confirms story details for new Ocean’s Eleven prequel, which won’t follow George Clooney’s Danny

Margot Robbie has shared some exciting news about the upcoming Ocean’s Eleven prequel: the movie will tell the story of Danny Ocean’s parents, offering a look at their lives before the events of the original film.

The announcement was made at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. Actress Anya Taylor-Joy appeared in a preview video showcasing Warner Bros.’ upcoming movies for 2027.

Before Danny Ocean became famous for his Vegas heists, his parents were his first and most important teachers, giving him all the skills he needed.

You’ll witness them at their best, executing a daring robbery during the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix in our latest film.

The movie’s setting sounds perfectly glamorous, and the cast is set with Bradley Cooper and Margot Robbie. Cooper replaced Ryan Gosling, who was originally planned for the role.

Cooper is directing the film, marking his fourth time as director after projects like A Star Is Born, Maestro, and Is This Thing On? The original director, Lee Isaac Chung, known for Twisters and Minari, left the project last month because of differing creative visions.

Although George Clooney won’t be in this particular movie, a different project is in the works that will focus on his character, Danny, and bring back several other actors from the series.

Julia Roberts, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, and Don Cheadle are all returning for the movie, which is expected to be based on the 1970s comedy ‘Going in Style’.

In an interview with Variety last year, Clooney explained that he was drawn to the project because of its premise: being old enough to be experienced, but still clever enough to pull something off.

“They’ve lost a step, and they need to find a way to work around their limitations.”

I remember Clooney working with those fantastic actors – García, Gould, and Affleck – in three movies directed by Steven Soderbergh between 2001 and 2007. It was a really productive period for them all, and those films still hold up today.

The latest installment in the series was the 2018 film Ocean’s Eight, a reboot featuring an all-female cast. Sandra Bullock played Debbie Ocean, Danny Ocean’s sister, and she was joined by Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Rihanna, and Helena Bonham Carter.

The Soderbergh films were actually a modern update of the original Ocean’s 11 from 1960, which famously featured the Rat Pack – Peter Lawford, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., and Joey Bishop.
