The debut of Marvel Studios’ Ironheart series is underway, but regrettably, it appears that another talented actor has been overlooked in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Actors such as Christian Bale, Natalie Dormer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Glenn Close, and others have not received their due recognition or utilization within the MCU. Unfortunately, a new cast member of Ironheart, despite having potential to create an impressive villain in the MCU, has also fallen into this category. This character could potentially evolve into an antihero, even forming an alliance with Jon Bernthal’s Punisher in future storylines.
In the series Ironheart, Anthony Ramos’ character Parker Robbins, also known as the Hood, presented us with a group of criminal associates operating in Chicago, aiming to challenge tech companies. One of these allies was Stuart, nicknamed Rampage (played by Eric André). Unfortunately, during one of their operations, Stuart committed a risky act, which resulted in him being replaced by Riri Williams, whose armored suit proved extremely beneficial. As it turned out, the Hood and his second-in-command, John (Manny Montana), had killed Stuart to tie up loose ends, effectively writing off Eric André’s character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Eric André, a popular comedian and actor, has made a name for himself through roles in shows like “The Internship, The Lion King, 2 Broke Girls, ” and “Man Seeking Woman“, as well as creating and starring in his own sketch comedy series, “The Eric Andre Show“. Despite his wide recognition and adoration, it’s surprising that Marvel Studios has decided not to include him in the upcoming series “Ironheart” given his potential for development within the Marvel universe, much like his comic book character counterpart, Rampage. Initially an adversary of the Champions, Rampage eventually teamed up with The Punisher, suggesting that André could have also seen significant growth in the Marvel franchise if given the chance.
It’s unfortunate that Eric André exited the MCU so swiftly, but he’s not alone. Notable actors like Bill Skarsgård (Kro in Eternals), Natalie Dormer (Private Lorraine in Captain America: The First Avenger), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron), Glenn Close (Nova Prime in Guardians of the Galaxy), and Christopher Eccleston (Malekith in Thor: The Dark World) are just a few examples of talented actors who, unfortunately, didn’t get much screen time. It appears that Marvel Studios sometimes overlooks some truly excellent acting talent.
It’s yet to be determined how Stuart’s demise will influence Riri Williams as Ironheart moving forward. The last three episodes of the Phase 5 series, set to debut on Disney+ on July 1, 2025, are anticipated to bestow Ironheart with a mystical enhancement, delve deeper into Parker Robbins’ persona as Hood, and potentially unveil the MCU’s version of Mephisto. Let’s hope Eric André’s role in the MCU won’t be swept under the rug too hastily.
