Marvel Sets Historic New TV Show Lineup For May 2026

Marvel has always had a strong presence on television, and they’re about to try something new this May. For a while, Disney+ has been the main place to find all things Marvel – from Spider-Man to the Avengers. But that’s changing, as Marvel prepares a groundbreaking new schedule of TV shows starting in May 2026.

May will see a lot of new Marvel shows and specials, but they’ll be spread across three different streaming services, which might be frustrating for fans. The month begins with the final episodes of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 arriving on Disney+ on May 5th. Then, on May 12th, Jon Bernthal returns as The Punisher in The Punisher: One Last Kill, a special presentation also available on Disney+.

While One Last Kill isn’t part of a larger series, it’s still a notable Marvel release in May. Things get a little complicated on May 25th with the premiere of Spider-Noir, starring Nicolas Cage. The first episode will air on MGM+, but all eight episodes will become available on Prime Video on May 27th.

Fans wondering why these releases aren’t all in one place have a good point, especially with so much new content coming in May. The key is that Spider-Noir is different from most Marvel projects. It was created by Sony Pictures Television, with the same team that made the acclaimed Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and isn’t a Marvel Studios production. Because of this, it’s available on MGM+ and Prime Video (both owned by Amazon) instead of Disney+ alongside other Marvel shows.

If you’re not familiar with the show, Spider-Noir features Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly, a tough, former superhero turned private investigator. He operates in a 1930s New York City that exists in an alternate universe. What’s also unique is how you can watch it – viewers around the world can choose between a classic black-and-white version or a full-color one.

How Will Marvel’s May 2026 TV Structure Affect Fans?

Just to clarify, the May 2026 content release isn’t a new series or model – it’s a unique combination of existing shows. The appearance of Spider-Noir on MGM+ and Prime Video is due to a long-standing agreement between Sony and Amazon. Sony owns the rights to make live-action Spider-Man TV shows outside of those produced by Marvel Studios, and they’ve been partners with Amazon MGM Studios for some time. However, this deal doesn’t apply to other Marvel characters.

Marvel Studios will continue to release most of its TV shows on Disney+. They’ve consistently used Disney+ for their Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) series, and that doesn’t seem likely to change. Upcoming shows like VisionQuest, Season 2 of X-Men 97, and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will all be available to stream on Disney+.

May demonstrates that the Marvel universe – including Spider-Man films made with Sony and Marvel Studios’ MCU – has grown so large that new releases are starting to overlap. To follow everything happening in Marvel next month, fans will need a Disney+ subscription for the final episodes of Born Again and a Punisher special. They’ll also need a separate subscription to MGM+ or Prime Video to watch Spider-Noir. This means staying current with all things Marvel is becoming more costly.

MGM+ costs around $7.99 per month, while Prime Video is included with an Amazon Prime membership that costs $14.99 a month. Because the show Spider-Noir will be available on Prime Video just two days after it premieres on MGM+, a separate MGM+ subscription isn’t really necessary for most viewers. If you’re happy to wait until May 27th, you can watch the entire season on Prime Video without needing to sign up for another service.
