Marvel Star Reveals Stunning Physical Transformation for Upcoming Arc in the MCU

This week, Kevin Feige, head of Marvel Studios, revealed that Sacha Baron Cohen’s Mephisto would be the main antagonist in future Marvel Cinematic Universe content. However, Cohen himself confirmed this on Wednesday through a new photoshoot with Men’s Fitness UK, showcasing his impressive physical transformation and workout routine. Cohen has significantly changed since his days in the lime green singlet from Borat, and he attributes this to preparing for future Mephisto appearances. Cohen first appeared as Mephisto in Ironheart earlier this month, but it remains unclear whether he will reappear in any of the upcoming movies or TV shows, or wait until the Multiverse Saga concludes.

Cohen was more than happy to tell Men’s Fitness about his journey of change, just as enthusiastically as his personal trainer, Alfonso Moretti. They became acquainted through Matthew McConaughey, with Moretti playfully commenting that at first, Cohen resembled a ruler, standing upright and straight. However, Cohen had some background in kickboxing, and Moretti suspected he was concealing an athlete within. He stated that Cohen approached his diet and exercise regimen with the intensity of a dedicated method actor, and the outcome is evident.

It’s challenging to determine the exact sequence of events, but it seems like Cohen may have started preparing for his role as a future main villain in the MCU, possibly for a series following Ironheart or even beyond. However, the filming for Ironheart was completed in 2022, and Cohen’s brief appearance didn’t provide much opportunity to showcase his new physique. If this preparation is indeed for a later role, it might be a bit early, as Avengers: Doomsday is currently being filmed, and the Multiverse Saga isn’t expected to end until Avengers: Secret Wars premieres in December 2027. This means that if Cohen is slated for the villainous role following Secret Wars, he would need to maintain his physique for a considerable length of time.

Several viewers are speculating that Mephisto might be involved in something imminent, given his potential significance. It seems wasteful to hint at such a formidable adversary and then leave him idle while another villain like Doctor Doom causes chaos. However, it’s worth noting that Mephisto has been sidelined since 2012, yet fans are still eagerly awaiting his appearance.

A whisper has circulated suggesting Marvel may soon bring to life the 2018 comic book saga “Damnation,” a tale that will span multiple films and series. In the original storyline, Mephisto plays a pivotal role; however, Marvel is known for altering its narratives during adaptation. Regardless of the specifics, this narrative seems poised to unfold post-“reset” teased by Feige in the upcoming Avengers films.

It’s possible that we could get answers to our Mephisto questions as early as Friday, July 25th, when the movie “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” premieres in theaters. Since we’re dealing with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s hard to predict exactly how long we might have to wait for more information.
