As hinted before, Sony and Arc System Works have announced two new playable characters for their upcoming superhero fighting game, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls.
The latest trailer introduces the team, known as the Fighting Avengers, featuring Captain America, Iron Man, and the recently added Hulk and Black Panther.
Hulk is, as you might imagine, a powerfully built character. What makes him especially dangerous is his Gamma Gauge – when it fills up, it significantly boosts his strength and speed, letting him dominate fights whether he’s up close or far away.
Hulk’s past will continue to fuel his rage. He was banished to the Savage Lands because of his unpredictable strength, and he still hasn’t gotten over the Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D. being responsible for it.
As a huge Marvel fan, I’m so excited to see Shuri taking on the mantle of Black Panther! It’s awesome that she’s not only stepping into that role but also continuing her duties as Queen of Wakanda – and it’s even cooler that this is all being reflected in the new game update!
She fights with the Spear of Bashenga, making her a fast and nimble warrior. The spear gives her an advantage with its long range, and her ability, Bast’s Blessing, lets her quickly move in any direction.
The PlayStation Blog post also shares more information about the Champion, who is the main villain in Marvel Tokon and the cause of the conflict between all the characters.
Champion, an Elder of the Universe, has arrived on Earth with his partner, Promoter, to search for a powerful warrior. They’re holding a tournament, pitting the planet’s best fighters against each other to find someone truly worthy.
Tokon has more characters on the way, with two additional teams still to be announced. These teams will be led by Ghost Rider and Doctor Doom.
We’ve introduced 14 characters so far, and with six more on the way, we’ll have a complete starting lineup of 20.
DLC plans for the game include four additional characters and more in the first year.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, featuring Hulk and Black Panther, will be released on August 6, 2026. Let us know if you’re looking forward to it in the comments!
