Next year, the big-screen adaptation of Masters of the Universe, featuring characters like He-Man and Skeletor, will finally be here. So far, we’ve only seen a few peeks at this project. However, things are starting to change now that San Diego Comic-Con is happening. Not only does it seem that Masters of the Universe will play a part in the event, but the show floor has also provided us with our first glimpse of He-Man and Skeletor’s signature weapons. Take a look at the photos below for a sneak peek!
At Comic-Con, the area designated for Masters of the Universe is adorned with an impressive setup reminiscent of Castle Grayskull. The highlight of the booth is a glass display case housing the iconic weapon – the Power Sword. We’ve glimpsed it before in a sneak peek, but this is our first full view of the sword, and it truly looks magnificent.
In the display, the sinister aspect of Eternia was depicted, with Skeletor’s Havoc Staff being featured. Although we’ve had brief glances of the Power Sword before, this is our initial sighting of anything associated with Skeletor, aside from the sneak peeks shown at a previous convention.
As a die-hard cinema fan, it’s clear that the Masters of the Universe team is striving to breathe life into this world and its characters in a way reminiscent of the original animated series. The weapons they’ve showcased so far serve as a testament to this approach. Frankly, I can’t wait to see an official trailer, and with Comic-Con just around the corner, it would be the ideal moment for that reveal. Here’s hoping it happens soon!
In the upcoming movie, Nicholas Galitzine takes on the character of Prince Adam, who is also known as the mighty hero He-Man. Previously, Galitzine gave fans a sneak peek into this fresh take on Masters of the Universe, promising an experience that will evoke nostalgia for old fans while also resonating with a new audience.
Galitzine shared with Collider that our adaptation deviates significantly from the initial animation, which was undeniably campy yet successful in its time. However, since then, there have been several adaptations, including the Revelation version of Masters of the Universe, and the comics themselves. Regarding our script, we consider it as a bible, meaning it serves as our guiding principle.
Galitzine remarked, “It’s quite remarkable to learn about the impact this series had on many individuals. For numerous people, it was a significant part of their development, so it’s thrilling to work on something that will evoke nostalgia and hopefully also draw in new admirers.
Alongside Galitzine, who plays He-Man, the movie features Edris Elba as Man-At-Arms, Camila Mendes as Teela, Jared Leto in the role of Skeletor, Alison Brie portraying Evil-Lyn, Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man, and Kojo Attah in the character of Tri-Klops.
