Maxton Hall is officially returning for season 3.
Given the success of the Prime Video series, which is adapted from Mona Kasten’s three-book series, another season was expected. Especially after the dramatic season 2 finale, viewers would have been very disappointed if Ruby and James’ story hadn’t continued.
So, when can we expect it? Who’s likely to return? And what might go down next?
Here’s everything you need to know about Maxton Hall season 3.
When will Maxton Hall season 3 be released?
The first two seasons were released in 2024 and 2025, so we anticipate the next episodes will come out in 2026, probably around the middle or end of the year.
Watch this space for updates.
Who will be in the Maxton Hall season 3 cast?

You can’t imagine Maxton Hall without Harriet Herbig-Matten playing Ruby Bell and Damian Hardung as James Beaufort – they’re essential to the show.
Other characters who could return are:
- Sonja Weißer as Lydia Beaufort
- Fedja van Huêt as Mortimer Beaufort
- Justus Riesner as Alistair Ellington
- Ben Felipe as Cyril Vega
- Andrea Guo as Lin Wang
- Esmael Agostinho as Wren Fitzgerald
- Runa Greiner as Ember Bell
- Gina Henkel as Helen Bell
- Martin Neuhaus as Angus Bell
- Hyun Wanner as Percy
And there’s always the opportunity for other returnees and new additions, too.
What might happen in Maxton Hall season 3?
By the end of season 2, Ruby was devastated. She was prevented from taking her exams because of her suspension, which ruined her chances of going to Oxford University.
A picture appeared showing her with Sutton—the teacher who had made Lydia pregnant—at the school’s welcome party. She correctly pointed out it was an innocent moment, but no one listened to her explanation.
Even after his arrest, Sutton involved Ruby in the situation, putting her future at risk and causing her to fall apart while she sought comfort from James.
Although Prime Video hasn’t shared details about season 3 yet, we can get a good sense of the upcoming plot from the description of the third book by the author. It looks like Ruby and James will face serious challenges in their relationship again.

Ruby is devastated – everything she feared has happened, and now her chances of going to Oxford, and achieving her long-held dreams, are in jeopardy.
To make matters even worse, all the evidence suggests James is to blame, despite their history. Ruby believed she truly knew him – the James with his own ambitions, the one who brought joy and made her fall for him with just a look.
“However, after an explosive fight between the two, they discover a terrible truth.
Ruby is determined to finish school, while James works to prove her innocence. This puts James in a difficult position, forcing him to go against his father and the life he expects him to lead.
Even with everything going on, James is still struggling with the pressure of his family. Ruby and James need to figure out if their lives are too incompatible, or if they can reconnect and make things work.
