Steve McBee Sr. is saddling up for some time behind bars.
Just one day after the reality show *McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys* was picked up for a third season, the family’s leader received a two-year prison sentence. He had previously admitted guilt in November to a scheme involving millions of dollars in fraudulent crop insurance claims.
Steve, age 52, was sentenced to two years in prison followed by two years of supervised release on October 16th, according to court records obtained by NBC News. Judge Stephen R. Bough also ordered him to pay $4,022,124 in restitution and a $100 court fee.
According to a Justice Department announcement in November, the owner of McBee Farming Operations confessed to committing fraud between 2018 and 2020, which resulted in financial losses for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
According to a recent announcement, McBee intentionally provided false information to Rain and Hail insurance company regarding his 2018 harvest. He reported approximately 674,812 fewer bushels of corn and 155,833 fewer bushels of soybeans than he actually produced. This led to McBee improperly receiving $2,605,943 in crop insurance payments and $552,980 in premium subsidies, totaling $3,158,923 in undeserved funds.
In the end, the government reported a loss of $4,022,123 – just one dollar less than the amount Steve was ordered to pay as restitution.
After being sentenced, the star of *McBee Dynasty*—who appears on the show with his sons Steven Jr., Jesse, Cole, and Brayden—received supportive messages from his family.

Steven shared a Father’s Day message on Instagram, saying he loves his dad and that the whole family is there to support him.
Cole posted a family photo to his Instagram Story with a supportive message. He wrote, “We’ll get through anything as a family. We want to be there for you now, just like you’ve always been there for us, Dad. We’re here for you.”
An attorney for Steve declined to comment on the sentencing when asked by NBC News.
