Mike Colter, who previously seemed hesitant to return as Luke Cage, now appears more open to the idea, especially with the upcoming second season of *Daredevil: Born Again*. After first appearing in *Jessica Jones* and later getting his own series, followed by a role in *The Defenders*, it looks like Luke Cage could be returning to television screens soon – and fans are excited about the possibility.
Look, I’ve been asked a lot about whether I’d ever revisit the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Luke Cage, and honestly, I’m still open to it. I used to think about it constantly, but I’ve learned to let it go a bit, realizing anything *could* happen down the line. I’d jump at the chance to explore that character again if Marvel came up with the right story, but I’m not in the loop on any potential reboots. I’m genuinely happy for Charlie Cox and others who are getting second chances, but I have no inside information about Luke Cage’s future – I’m not keeping anything from anyone, I just don’t know!
In Daredevil: Born Again, There Could Be A New Future For Luke Cage

There’s growing speculation that Luke Cage could reappear in the Daredevil series, potentially joining forces with characters like Jessica Jones, Moon Knight, and Iron Fist. Although Mike Colter, who played Luke Cage, has openly discussed the possibility of returning, he’s generally seemed unconcerned about it, even with the clear connection to Daredevil. However, that changed recently at a fan event in Edmonton, where Colter hinted, “I’m puzzled why people keep asking about this. There haven’t been any indications, and it’s not like one of the old Marvel Netflix shows has been brought back recently.”
When discussing how Luke Cage should be portrayed in future projects, he referenced the changes made to the Hulk, expressing concern that Luke Cage could be similarly weakened, even to the point of being easily defeated by a villain like Thanos. He wants Luke Cage to stay true to his origins as a grounded, street-level hero. Regarding Daredevil, he strongly believes the show shouldn’t have been rebooted, arguing that the original Netflix series was successful and didn’t need to be changed.
Luke Cage Returning For Daredevil Would Be A Great Move For Marvel
Colter is spot-on about what Luke Cage needs to be. With so many world-ending threats happening in the Marvel universe, we could really use more heroes focused on street-level problems, like Daredevil. While *Thunderbolts* touches on this idea, it still features established, powerful heroes. What people really want are more stories about characters like Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Frank Castle dealing with everyday crime and struggles.
