The horror series, which first aired in 2022 and centers around people stuck in a strange town, has slowly built a dedicated fanbase and even impressed Stephen King. Before season 4 began, the show was renewed for another season, but it was also announced that season 5 will be the final one.

The latest season of From is off to a fantastic start on Rotten Tomatoes, currently holding a perfect 100% rating from critics – based on the first five reviews. While this score may change as more reviews are published after the season 4 premiere on MGM+, the show generally receives high praise. Overall, From has a 97% rating, with previous seasons also earning excellent scores: 96% for season 1, 93% for season 2, and a perfect 100% for season 3.

Jordan Williams at ScreenRant gave season 4 of From a 9 out of 10, praising it for finally providing answers to long-standing mysteries while maintaining the show’s suspenseful and fast-moving pace. With the series now confirmed to end after its next season, Williams also highlighted a clear and well-executed plan for bringing the show’s storylines – past, present, and future – together.

I recently read Jasneet Singh’s review on Collider, and they gave the latest season a 7 out of 10. They felt it wasn’t quite as thrilling or dramatic as previous seasons, but still worthwhile as part of the overall story. What really stood out to them – and I can see their point – is that this season focuses more on the characters themselves and less on big mysteries.

In a review for RogerEbert.com, Brian Tallerico points out problems with the writing in season 4, but notes that the show remains compelling due to its fast pace. Tessa Smith, writing for Mama’s Geeky, adds that the increased focus on the Man in Yellow elevates the horror and makes the series more unpredictable, contributing to this momentum.

The mysterious Man in Yellow, introduced in the season 3 finale of From, revealed a dangerous truth – that knowledge has a price – and tragically killed Jim Matthews. Season 4 will delve into the consequences of his arrival, exploring how Tabitha and Jade uncovered unsettling things about themselves and the town, all while grappling with the loss of Jim, a central character since the very beginning.

The cast of ‘From’ will mostly remain the same for the new season. Surprisingly, even the character Jim, who previously died, will be back – a trailer showed him with his son, Ethan Matthews (played by Simon Webster). The main new addition is Julia Doyle, who will play Sophia, a naive and delicate pastor’s daughter.

Critics are still loving From, giving season 2 a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, viewer scores have been dropping since the first season. Some fans feel the show is taking too long to resolve its central mysteries. Fortunately, reviews suggest season 4 is an improvement, and the upcoming fifth season will bring the series to a satisfying conclusion.

From season 4 premieres on MGM+ on Sunday, April 19, followed by weekly episodes through June 21.
