Michelle Williams and Thomas Kail Make Rare Red Carpet Appearance

Michelle Williams‘ red carpet glam is truly to die for.

Actress Sasha Lane and her husband, Thomas Kail, made a rare public appearance together in New York City on April 16th. They attended the opening night of Kail’s latest project, a Broadway revival of the play Proof, and walked the red carpet.

Michelle and Thomas, parents to 5-year-old Hart Kail and two daughters (born in 2022 and 2025), made a striking impression. Michelle wore a beautiful long-sleeved red velvet dress with black leggings and heels, while Thomas looked sharp in a sleek black suit for the opening night.

Stars of the play, including Ayo Edebiri and Don Cheadle, were at the performance, preparing for its final show on July 19th.

Before starting work on Proof, Michelle Williams and her husband, Tony-winning director Thomas Kail – whom she met while filming Fosse/Verdon and married in 2020 – previously teamed up for a revival of Anna Christie. Kail directed the off-Broadway play, which starred Williams and Mike Faist, and ran from November 2025 to February 2026.

Okay, so Michelle being involved in this play? It was HUGE for her, honestly. It was a real family thing, especially with her daughter, Matilda Ledger – she’s twenty now, can you believe it? – who she had with Heath. It wasn’t easy, juggling everything, but she said pouring her heart into the creative side of it all made it totally worth it. I just know it was something special for her and Matilda.

In an October interview with Vogue, she explained that she enjoys experimenting and observing the results. She finds it fascinating to see how things fall and the patterns they create.

Thomas, the director of Broadway hits like Lin-Manuel Miranda’s In the Heights and Hamilton, completely agreed.

He shared what he loved about performing in theater: “It’s amazing to be part of a tradition that stretches back over a century, connecting you to all the actors and performers who came before. It’s a really powerful feeling.”

However, for Michelle, her favorite role—and the most fulfilling—is still that of mom.

Speaking to Variety in May 2022, she explained that having a child is the most powerful motivation for wanting to make the world a better place, calling it “the ultimate creative act.”

She described her pregnancy with her and Thomas’s first daughter as “absolutely wonderful.” Reflecting on the years ahead, she shared that it’s natural to wonder what life will bring. She expressed immense gratitude and joy that her wish for another child had come true, and that her family felt incredibly lucky.

Robert Downey Jr. has moved from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to the stage, recently making his Broadway debut in Ayad Akhtar’s play, McNeal. The play centers on Jacob McNeal, a writer facing a terminal illness who unexpectedly receives a Nobel Prize. He then grapples with a difficult decision: should he use artificial intelligence – a technology he previously opposed – to help him finish his final novel?

As for why the Iron-Man star decided to hit the stage in the Bartlett Sher-directed production?

Speaking with Vogue in October 2024, he described the new play as dealing with relevant issues and praised the talent of everyone involved, including Bart and the rest of the cast. He noted that Ayad, the playwright, has a unique style of presenting opposing viewpoints within the same line of dialogue, constantly challenging and undermining his previous statements.

Before starting his role, Robert reached out to Bradley Cooper—a fellow Marvel actor who received a Tony Award nomination for his 2015 performance in The Elephant Man—to ask for guidance.

Robert remembered telling someone, ‘Just remember you’ll be aware of your own body – you’ll feel your feet in your shoes – when you’re on stage. The audience will feel supportive, like a soft cushion.’ He told The Independent that he thought this was a good mindset, so he decided to handle the situation like Bradley Cooper and allow it to unfold naturally.

Whitney Leavitt quickly transitioned from competing on Dancing With the Stars – where she was eliminated in November 2025 – to performing in Chicago on Broadway. Originally scheduled for a six-week run as Roxie Hart ending in March 2026, strong ticket sales extended her performance into April.

I’ve been following Whitney for a while now, and while a lot of people know her from the Hulu show with Taylor Frankie Paul, Mayci Neeley, and the other MomTok ladies, it’s amazing to see her pursuing her real passion. She’s such a bubbly personality on TV, but people might not realize she’s a seriously talented dancer! She actually trained at Brigham Young University and always dreamed of performing on stage, which is so inspiring to see her working towards now.

She told Playbill in March 2026 that a love of performing has always been a part of who she is. As a child, she enjoyed making up dances and staging mini music videos for her family, often getting her cousins involved in creating shows for the adults.

And yet she still had nerves about taking her dance skills from TikTok to the Great White Way.

In a video posted to Instagram in February 2026, she shared how overwhelmed she was feeling. She admitted she was especially nervous about performing solo for a live audience for the first time. After putting in a lot of preparation, she hoped the performance would feel natural and that she could simply trust her instincts when she took the stage.

Pamela Anderson showed she could handle the Broadway stage when she played Roxie Hart in Chicago. She connected with the story on a personal level and performed the role for two months, finishing her run in June 2022.

She shared with TopMob News in April that she’d lived a very eventful life, with both great joys and difficult times. She admitted she never fully understood the purpose of her past experiences, but now realizes they were preparing her for something bigger than she ever anticipated.

She felt a connection with Roxie, recognizing both her fragility and resilience. Like Roxie, she understood what it was like to face difficulties with humor and poise, to be misrepresented in the media, and ultimately, to find positivity even in challenging situations.

Okay, so Pamela Anderson is taking on Roxie Hart, which is HUGE! And honestly, you can just tell she’s really feeling this role, she’s so excited. But she’s also realistic – she knows getting ready to rock that famous fringe dress is going to take a ton of work. It’s not just grabbing a costume, you know? She’s dedicated, though, and I can’t wait to see her transform!

She confessed she’d never pushed herself so hard, but she was thriving on it. She enjoyed the demanding rehearsals and the feeling of satisfaction that came with being exhausted at the end of the day. She was learning everything she could, completely immersed in the experience. She’d always dreamed of being a performer, but never believed it would actually happen.

And the former Playboy model admitted she was surprised to be cast in the role.

I can’t believe they chose me, it feels a little wild, but I’m incredibly thankful,” she said. “It’s a big risk for all of us, but I’m learning a lot about singing – it takes both bravery and skill, like building a muscle. I feel myself improving more and more each day.

Tom Felton charmed audiences during a nearly 20-week performance of Harry Potter and The Cursed Child, where he returned to play Draco Malfoy as an adult.

Nearly two decades after the Battle of Hogwarts, the story centers on an unlikely friendship. Albus Severus Potter, son of Harry and Ginny, and Scorpius Malfoy, Draco’s son, both find themselves in Slytherin House at Hogwarts and become friends.

Tom described the experience as surreal, saying on Today in June 2025, five months before the show’s release, that it felt like a dream. He explained that he hadn’t played the character in 16 years, and now he’s returning to the role – this time as a father within a new storyline.

Despite appearing in all eight Harry Potter movies as the well-known villain, the actor admitted he didn’t quite bring the same magic to the stage.

He explained that the play feels like a completely separate story from the Harry Potter movies he remembered as a child. Now, as an adult, he’s experiencing the story from a new perspective – he’s become the parent figure, rather than the child, making it both familiar and surprisingly new.

Charli D’Amelio first gained fame on TikTok, then showcased her dancing on TV with a 2022 appearance on Dancing With the Stars. Now, in October 2024, she’s making her Broadway debut in the musical & Juliet.

The influencer was originally scheduled to finish playing Charmian in January 2025, but her contract was extended two times.

She expressed immense excitement about joining the Broadway scene, something she’s dreamed of since childhood. In a statement released in September 2024, ahead of her upcoming year-long engagement, she said making her Broadway debut—and especially being part of the cast of & Juliet—felt like a dream come true, and she was eager to share the experience with audiences.

Even though it was her Broadway debut, and the role in Shakespeare’s play involved a lot of dancing, she felt comfortable and prepared thanks to her years of experience.

She shared with ABC7 that November that dance had always been deeply meaningful to her. She explained that it allowed her to express herself when words weren’t enough.

Though, it was still hard to grapple with such a prestigious honor.

Charli, also a winner on Dancing with the Stars, shared that she never imagined she’d be where she is today, and often struggled with self-doubt. She expressed deep gratitude to everyone who supported her, especially her mom, who tirelessly drove her to dance classes and competitions, and consistently encouraged her to pursue her dreams, even when Charli doubted herself.

Similar to Whitney and Pamela, Ariana Madix was excited to play Roxie Hart in Chicago. The Vanderpump Rules star earned the opportunity after a difficult time – she was asked to perform just nine months after her very public and dramatic split from costar Tom Sandoval.

Understandably, she described that chapter in her life to TopMob News as “the rollercoaster.”

Ariana, who played the role in the musical from January to April and again from August to September 2024, explained that it was difficult to sum up everything that had happened.

For the reality TV star, this was a chance to transform a difficult experience into a major achievement.

Let me tell you, Roxie is a master of emotions. She can be incredibly charming and sweet when she wants something, really laying on the flattery. But the second she feels like you’re not meeting her needs, watch out! She’ll turn on you in a heartbeat. Honestly, she’s unbelievably skilled at manipulating feelings – she’s a gold medalist, as far as I’m concerned.

Julianne Hough dreamed of performing on Broadway, but she wanted to wait for the perfect role. When she came across the play POTUS: Or, Behind Every Great Dumbass Are Seven Women Trying to Keep Him Alive, she felt it was exactly what she’d been waiting for.

From April to August 2022, Alfonso Ribeiro, known for co-hosting Dancing With the Stars, played Dusty, a public relations aide for a U.S. president. Alongside Rachel Dratch, Vanessa Williams, Julie White, Lilli Cooper, and Lea DeLaria, he was part of a team tasked with managing the politician’s image amidst a scandal.

She mentioned talks about performing on Broadway, but she didn’t want it to be just a one-time achievement. She told TopMob News in May 2022 that she wanted to truly become involved with the Broadway community, learning from others and contributing, rather than just making a brief appearance.

Nicole Scherzinger always dreamed of becoming a star. She achieved early success touring the world and enjoying the perks of being the lead singer of The Pussycat Dolls. However, she felt her biggest dream came true when she played Norma Desmond in the musical Sunset Boulevard from October 2024 to July 2025.

Nicole, the 2025 Tony Award winner for Best Actress in a Musical, shared with TopMob News that she always felt unfulfilled. She explained that she was never truly happy because she knew she had more to offer, and this role finally gave her the chance to fully express herself. She said it’s been a life-changing experience and she’s incredibly thankful for the opportunity.
