The Power Rangers franchise has faced some big changes recently. The TV show ended in 2023 with Power Rangers Cosmic Fury and a special anniversary episode, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always. The comic books also finished their run in 2024, and plans for a new series on Netflix fell through. However, things are now looking brighter! Alongside a full Power Rangers reboot, the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers are coming back, and a familiar face will be joining the adventure.
Penguin Random House has announced the return of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers later this year (via @Deoxy360). The series concluded in 2024, but will relaunch on June 3, 2026. Marguerite Bennett, a popular writer with fans, will be writing the new series, with artwork by Andrew Lee Griffith and Phillip Sevy.
Marguerite Bennett Is The Perfect Writer For Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ Return

Lots of writers could probably do a good job with Power Rangers, but Marguerite Bennett is the perfect choice to take over the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comics. To understand why, we need to look back at her work from 2018.
After the epic conclusion of the ‘Shattered Grid’ storyline, BOOM! Studios’ Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic was ready for a fresh direction. The series planned to introduce new ideas and characters, while also bringing back beloved Rangers from the past to form a powerful, all-star team.
Bennett envisioned a team led by the Ranger Slayer (Kimberly from a universe without the Power Coins), alongside Mike, the Magna Defender; Andros, the Red Ranger from Power Rangers in Space; Tanya, the Yellow Ranger from Power Rangers Zeo; Cameron, the Green Ranger from Power Rangers Ninja Storm; and Heckyl, the Dark Ranger from Power Rangers Dino Charge. During the series, this team encountered Ellarien, who possessed the Solarix crystal and became the Purple Solar Ranger, revealing a rich history and mythology surrounding the Solar Rangers.
The story concludes with the entire team gaining Solar Ranger powers and establishes a path for future adventures. Bennett skillfully weaves these new developments with character development for the existing Rangers, drawing on their established histories and exploring how they learn to work together and grow as individuals.

This storyline is considered one of the most imaginative and ambitious in the entire Mighty Morphin Power Rangers history. Though it initially received mixed reactions, it’s gained a lot more fans over time. Considering all the complex elements the writer balanced and how those themes reappeared later in the series, she’s the ideal choice to help launch a new Power Rangers series in 2026. She’s proven she can successfully blend fresh ideas with what makes the franchise special, and she’s likely to do so again with this upcoming launch.
