Millie Bobby Brown Shares Philosophy on Motherhood After Adopting Baby

There was nothing strange about Millie Bobby Brown’s first Mother’s Day.

The actress, known for her role in Stranger Things, recently emphasized celebrating all kinds of mothers, especially after she and her husband, Jake Bongiovi, welcomed a baby girl through adoption in August.

You know, as a lifestyle expert, I truly believe motherhood comes in so many forms. I was chatting with Millie recently, and she put it beautifully: it’s not just about biology! Whether you’re a birth mother, an adoptive mom, or a significant maternal figure in someone’s life, every single one of you deserves to be celebrated. It’s about the nurturing, the love, and the incredible role you play – and that’s something we should all recognize.

She continued, saying it’s wonderful to see everyone raising great kids – the future generation. Because of this, she believes women deserve to be appreciated and honored constantly, not just on special occasions.

On Mother’s Day 2026, Millie shared a post on her Instagram Story acknowledging all kinds of mothers. She recognized those who were expecting, new moms, exhausted moms, grieving moms, and those who stepped in as mother figures. She also included moms of children who had strayed, single mothers, and foster or adoptive mothers, as reported by USA Today.

Although she and her husband, Jake, 24, who got married in 2024, are open about how much they enjoy being parents, they’ve made an effort to keep their daughter private.

Millie explained to British Vogue in November that she wants to protect her daughter and let her share her own story when she’s ready. She feels it wouldn’t be right to put her daughter in the public eye without her consent.

If their daughter ever decides to be open about who she is, like Millie and Jake have been, they would absolutely support her.

Speaking about her young daughter, the Enola Holmes actress explained that it’s her and her partner’s responsibility as parents to shield her from negativity.

Millie is already thinking about having more children, and envisions a future with her and Jake as a growing family.

She revealed on the Smartless podcast in 2025 that she and her partner both come from large families—each having four siblings—and they plan to have a big family of their own.

Millie also mentioned then that she felt having a biological child wasn’t much different from adopting one.

She added, “My home is full of love for anyone and anything.”
