The announcement of Halo: Combat Evolved for PlayStation 5 gained a lot of attention, racking up millions of views on Sony’s social media channels.
Honestly, it’s been wild online! Everyone’s been talking about seeing Master Chief – the face of Xbox – actually playing on a PlayStation. YouTube and X (formerly Twitter) have been blowing up with reactions, it’s crazy to see!
As of today, the trailer for The Silent Cartographer has received 837,000 views on the official PlayStation YouTube channel, and the Halo Studios discussion panel has 534,000 views.

In contrast, the same trailers have received 71,000 and 70,000 views on the official Xbox YouTube channel. A longer gameplay video, which wasn’t uploaded by Sony, has significantly more views, with 232,000.
PlayStation’s YouTube channel has a significant lead in subscribers – it has over three times as many as Xbox’s, giving them an edge in that area.
Okay, so the Halo trailer did really well – it got over 571,000 views on YouTube. The discussion they had after the trailer also pulled in a solid 431,000 views. But the gameplay video? That absolutely blew up, racking up over 1.2 million views! It’s awesome to see so much hype for the game.
But it’s on X (or Twitter) where Halo’s reveal for PS5 went truly viral.
Sony’s announcement that Master Chief would be available on PlayStation quickly gained a lot of attention, racking up over 12.4 million views. In comparison, similar posts from the official Xbox and Halo accounts received 483,000 and 9.2 million views, respectively.
So, it’s clear this reveal made a big splash among PS5 fans.
I think a lot of the excitement around Halo coming to PlayStation is just because it’s something new and unexpected! But honestly, I fully expect Halo: Combat Evolved to be a massive hit when it launches on Sony’s system next year.
