In a recent interview, Emma Mackey spoke about her experience with the Supergirl movie. Though she’d received praise for her work on HBO’s House of the Dragon, Supergirl was the first time she was listed as the lead actor. This brought a lot of pressure, and she questioned whether she was prepared for such a prominent role. Mackey confessed she was scared of the part, but her strong connection to the character ultimately led her to accept it.

Milly Alcock Was Tempted to “Run Away” From Supergirl

I was shocked and thought, ‘Are you kidding me? I have to do all of that?!’ because her character was in practically every single scene,” Alcock explained. “Playing Milly felt a lot like wanting to hide, run away, and ignore everything. But ultimately, you have to confront those feelings to heal and address parts of yourself you’ve been avoiding.”

She explained that when she looked in the mirror, she realized she couldn’t refuse the opportunity. She knew it was the right thing to do, even though it frightened her. She thought to herself, ‘You only get one life, so why not take a chance? Don’t be afraid – just do it!’

Before starring in Supergirl, actress Milly Alcock first appeared in the DC Universe in last year’s Superman film. She’s quickly become an important figure for DC, and is expected to be featured in future projects, including the upcoming film directed by James Gunn. DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran has confirmed Alcock’s continued involvement, stating she will play a significant role in their plans.

The new film, Supergirl, directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira, stars Jenna Alcock as Kara Zor-El. The story follows Kara’s journey to get revenge on the dangerous space pirate Krem of the Yellow Hills, played by Matthias Schoenaerts. Alcock has hinted that Kara is also battling internal struggles, which she personally connects with and found helpful in her performance.

Alcock explained that she deeply connected with her character, Kara, because they both struggled with internal conflict. She believes this feeling is common, particularly for women. She was surprised by how much the experience of playing a superhero resonated with her personally, calling it a positive and meaningful journey.
