Please be aware that this article reveals major plot details from the final episode of Missed Call, which is currently available on Channel 5.
As Sarah (Joanna Scanlan) nears discovering the truth about her daughter Katie (Emily Coates), the last episode of Missed Call ended with a major cliffhanger, leaving viewers on the edge of their seats.
When a body is discovered in the woods, Sarah immediately fears the worst, but it soon becomes clear the case is connected to an old mystery in Saint Michel. The question is, what role does Katie play in all of this?
I just finished the fifth and final episode, now streaming on 5, and honestly, the ending might surprise you. As Scanlan pointed out, it doesn’t quite wrap things up the way a lot of viewers are probably expecting.
When asked about how the show ends, she hinted that it’s not a happy conclusion. She wouldn’t promise viewers would get the answers they’re hoping for.
But what happens in the final episode of Missed Call? Read on for a full breakdown.
Missed Call ending explained: Does Sarah find Katie?

The season finale left viewers wondering if the body discovered in the woods belonged to Katie. However, it was revealed to be Odile, a young woman who disappeared five years ago in Saint Michel.
So, who was responsible for Odile’s death? It turns out Detective Jerome Ricard (played by François-Xavier Demaison) accidentally struck her with his car while driving under the influence. The impact killed her instantly, and Jerome then covered up the accident, lying for years and preventing the case from ever being solved.
After his former partner, Serge, discovered the truth, Jerome decided to act alone again. He killed Serge and made it look like a suicide, then intentionally left clues suggesting he was also responsible for Odile’s death.
When confronted by Virginie, Jerome revealed he knew about Andrew’s past and used that information to threaten her. Andrew had left the UK for France after being accused of sexual assault in the 1980s, and Jerome now possessed the evidence to prove it.
Virginie wasn’t bothered by learning who her father really was, and she didn’t mind if Jerome revealed the truth. Eventually, Jerome discarded the files, and Virginie then arrested him – which created a strange situation since they were also dating.
For years, Odile’s mother, Audrey Lambert (Lise Laffont), had been desperately trying to find out what happened to her daughter. She was devastated to learn of Odile’s death, and Sarah and Virginie later told her that Jérôme had been arrested for the murder.
The shocking revelations continued when it was discovered that Audrey had kidnapped Katie and was hiding her at her house. After a long and difficult time, Katie was finally able to reunite with Sarah.

Audrey found Katie wandering alone on the road and recognized her as a student from the local school. Katie was very drunk and thought Audrey was her mother, which Audrey saw as a meaningful moment.
Audrey believed hiding Katie would encourage people to connect Katie’s disappearance to the case of Odile, potentially bringing Odile’s killer to justice. However, Audrey was actually the one subtly planting clues – like the graffiti referencing the Morvans – for Sarah and Virginie to discover, hoping they would connect the two cases.
I always felt like the Morvans were somehow connected to Odile’s disappearance, and Audrey was convinced of it too. That’s why she was so determined to make it look like they were involved, even though it turned out they weren’t. She told me everything, and honestly, I understood why she was doing it. I didn’t even try to stop her; I just felt bad for what she was going through.
After Audrey’s arrest, Sarah and Katie had a deeply honest conversation about their relationship. Sarah realized Katie hadn’t shared everything with her, and Katie admitted to impulsively trying to kiss Jason (Rupert Graves) in the past.
That’s when Sarah told Katie the shocking news: Jason had died after being shot by Xavier (Maxime Pipet) during a fight.
Sarah was shocked to discover Jason wasn’t the man she believed him to be. He’d kept a whole second life hidden, including a wife, children, and several affairs.
Sarah, with her daughter at her side, expressed her gratitude to Virginie for all her support and friendship during her time in Saint Michel. However, Virginie unexpectedly revealed they had obtained Jason’s phone records and offered to show them to Sarah.
Sarah firmly declined and immediately asked about Audrey’s well-being. She then got into a taxi heading to the airport, saying goodbye to Virginie. With Katie joining her, they drove away feeling cheerful.
