Missing MCU Hero’s Return in Avengers: Doomsday Might’ve Just Been Confirmed (& It Fits a Kevin Feige Tease)

It looks like a previously absent hero from the Marvel Cinematic Universe might be appearing in Avengers: Doomsday, and this aligns with something Marvel boss Kevin Feige hinted at before. While the MCU’s heroes have been scattered in recent phases, Avengers: Doomsday will reunite many of them to battle Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr. This includes characters whose stories seemed complete, such as Captain America (Chris Evans) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston). Several MCU favorites are confirmed to return, even those who haven’t been seen in a while, like Shang-Chi (Simu Liu).

Rumors are swirling that another missing character might appear in the next Marvel movie. During a recent conversation shared online, actor Andy Serkis and Ms. Marvel star Iman Vellani discussed upcoming projects. While Vellani didn’t confirm she’d be in Avengers: Doomsday, she didn’t deny it either. When Serkis expressed his excitement about seeing her in the film, she playfully told him he couldn’t say that. He then rephrased his statement, suggesting a potential appearance, and she responded with a simple “yeah, if there’s a chance,” before quickly changing the topic to The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum.

Iman and Andy Serkis were playfully discussing the possibility of Iman reprising her role as Ms. Marvel in a potential future Avengers film, jokingly referred to as ‘Doomsday.’ A post on Cinemahub’s Instagram account captured their lighthearted exchange, with Andy expressing excitement and Iman playfully objecting to him mentioning it.

As a big fan, I’ve noticed how careful Marvel is about keeping secrets, so when Iman Vellani is being mysterious, it usually means something’s up! It’s been a while since we’ve seen Kamala Khan – her last full appearance was in The Marvels back in 2023, though her dad had a quick cameo in Daredevil: Born Again. To me, that shows Marvel isn’t done with Ms. Marvel and her family, and they’re building towards bringing them back. It really feels like that return could happen in the next Avengers movie, especially since Kevin Feige hinted at something like that a while ago. I’m so excited to see what they have planned!

Iman Vellani’s Avengers: Doomsday Return Fits With a Kevin Feige Tease

Everyone is excited about Ms. Marvel coming back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and a recent comment from Marvel boss Kevin Feige might hint at why. After Sir Ian McKellen jokingly suggested Magneto would destroy New Jersey, the Russo brothers said he probably misspoke. Feige then playfully confirmed, “There’s a New Jersey presence!” Since Ms. Marvel, Kamala Khan, is from Jersey City, many believe this is a reference to her role in future events.

Recent Marvel movies have been subtly setting up a future team called the Young Avengers, and the next big movie could be the perfect way to introduce them. While we’ll have to wait for official announcements, it would be great to see Iman Vellani reprise her role as Ms. Marvel, either leading this new generation of heroes or protecting her community. Hopefully, we’ll get that chance in December 2026.

Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026.
