More God of War PS5 Details Leak, Out in 2027 with New Protagonist

After Santa Monica Studio hinted at a new game – a fresh story within the world of God of War – reliable industry insider NateTheHate2 has shared some details about the project. Be aware that what follows may contain spoilers.

A recent leak suggests the next God of War game will center around Faye, Kratos’s wife and mother of Atreus. Players will likely explore her story, as she’s a significant figure from the previous games – remembered for her ashes being carried to a mountaintop in the 2018 game and appearing in visions throughout God of War Ragnarok.

This was Faye in God of War Ragnarok:

According to an insider, the new PlayStation 5 game will be announced sometime this year and is currently planned to release in the first six months of 2027, barring any unforeseen delays.

The new game will emphasize action-packed gameplay. According to insider Shpeshal Nick, it’s expected to feel more like Devil May Cry and the older God of War games from the PlayStation 2 and 3 era, rather than the last two installments.

So, I’ve been hearing a lot about the next God of War game for PS5, and it sounds like it’s going to be a huge departure from what we’re used to – almost like a completely new game! Someone who used to work on the series even said it could be a whole new franchise within the God of War world. Apparently, we might be playing games starring Faye for a while, and it looks like the story will take place before the Norse adventures we’ve already played. It’s really exciting to think about a whole new saga unfolding!

Sony is actively growing the world of God of War. They recently launched God of War: Sons of Sparta, a game with a 2D, exploration-focused style, and Amazon Prime Video shared the first image from the upcoming God of War TV series last week.
