The animated series My Adventures with Superman is currently airing its third season and recently revealed a new version of Green Lantern who will appear in the next episode. The show has been praised for offering a fresh take on the classic DC Comics hero and expanding the universe to include other characters. This success is leading to a new spinoff series that will further build out this animated world.
The animated series My Adventures with Superman is back with a new episode this week! Episode 2, titled “Mobile Suit Toyman,” will introduce Jessica Cruz, who fans will later see as Green Lantern in the upcoming My Adventures with Green Lantern series. Auli’i Cravalho, known for Moana, will voice the character, and Entertainment Weekly has shared a first look at her in the role.
Jessica Cruz Revealed in My Adventures With Superman Season 3

According to producer Jake Wyatt, the second episode of My Adventures with Superman was designed to show how Supergirl (Kiana Madeira) was impacting the world and how people reacted differently to her powers. He also mentioned that while actress Isabela Merced’s character will be featured, her full heroic arc—which will be explored in the upcoming spinoff—won’t begin immediately. For now, her appearance is meant to hint at what’s to come, as reported to Entertainment Weekly.
Wyatt explained that when the Green Lantern project was approved, they wanted to show how an ordinary person – Jessica Cruz, before she became a Lantern – would react to Supergirl. They wanted to explore what it would be like for a shy teenager, without powers, to see such a strong, world-changing superhero. They also considered how Supergirl might see herself through Jessica’s perspective. As for casting Auli’i Cravalho, known for Moana and Mean Girls, Wyatt said they were immediately impressed with her audition and performance, and she will continue in the role for My Adventures with Green Lantern.
Moana Star Joins My Adventures With Green Lantern Spinoff

We received many great auditions for the role of Jessica, but when I heard Auli’i Cravalho read the lines, something really stood out. She had a natural sweetness and unassuming quality that felt perfect for the character, and I immediately knew she was right for the part. At first, I didn’t even check who it was – I just rushed to share the recording with everyone! Then Stephanie Gonzaga and Karen Graci told me it was Auli’i, that she was already well-known as a princess from her previous work, and we were all set.
Currently, there’s no confirmed release date for My Adventures with Green Lantern. However, the creator has hinted that the show will take inspiration from another anime previously shown on Toonami, much like how their Superman series drew from Dragon Ball Z. They’ve promised that the influence on Green Lantern will become obvious in future promotional materials, and that they aren’t holding back on making that connection clear to viewers.
