The anime series My Hero Academia is concluding its run with one last episode, set to air in a few days. However, recent news suggests this final episode will be shorter than fans hoped. While the eighth and final season wrapped up the battle against All For One last year and showed a glimpse of Deku’s future, this upcoming episode is intended to be the true series finale.
I’m excited to hear that My Hero Academia is returning in May with a special new anime episode! It’s designed to be a final chapter, wrapping up the story from Kohei Horikoshi’s original manga. The episode jumps forward eight years, showing what life looks like for Deku and the rest of Class 1-A as adults. It’s a bit disappointing to learn it will be a standard 30-minute episode, but the official My Hero Academia accounts have confirmed it will fit right into the usual schedule.
My Hero Academia Finale Is Just a Regular Episode
I noticed that the official My Hero Academia social media announced that after the episode airs at 5:30 PM JST, it’ll be available to stream shortly after, around 6:00 PM. This confirms the finale will be a standard length – just 23 minutes, plus commercials – which is a little surprising given how long we’ve waited since the last season ended. But honestly, it makes sense considering what they’re planning to cover in the episode.
Episode 170+1 of My Hero Academia, titled “More,” covers the manga chapter of the same name from the series’ final volume. This chapter wasn’t originally released in Shonen Jump magazine; it was a special epilogue created by Kohei Horikoshi to provide a more complete ending to the story. The episode expands on the eight-year time skip hinted at in the anime’s finale, offering a deeper look into the adult lives of Deku and Ochaco after their school years.
How to Watch My Hero Academia’s Real Finale

The newest episode of My Hero Academia (Episode 170+1) will premiere in Japan on May 2nd and will be available to stream on Crunchyroll right away. While an English dub hasn’t been confirmed yet, it’s very likely given that this episode is part of the anime’s series finale and fans are eager to see how the ten-year story concludes.
The glimpse into Deku’s future was the highlight of My Hero Academia’s final episode, showing how Class 1-A supported his return to hero work. However, the original finale left some aspects of Deku’s story feeling incomplete. This additional episode offers a chance for fans to truly say goodbye to the popular Shonen Jump series.
