My Hero Academia Creator Returns With New Release for Anime Finale

The anime series My Hero Academia is back with a new episode this weekend, marking what’s considered the true finale. While the eighth and final season of the TV show aired last fall, the story continues this spring with an adaptation of a special epilogue chapter. This chapter was originally created by Kohei Horikoshi, the series’ creator, and released after the main story concluded in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. To celebrate, Horikoshi has also shared a new look at an adult Izuku Midoriya.

The anime My Hero Academia recently released a new episode intended as the definitive conclusion to the series, showing what happened to Deku and the other heroes almost ten years after the final battle. To mark this special occasion, the series creator, Kohei Horikoshi, shared a new sketch of adult Deku on social media. You can see it below.

My Hero Academia Ends With Real Finale Episode

Episode 171 of My Hero Academia (“More”) is based on a special final chapter from the manga. This chapter was released after the main series finished and provides extra details about the eight-year time skip shown in the finale. The episode focuses on what the world of heroes looks like now that villain activity has decreased, and it shows Deku’s journey into the future.

The final episode is now available to stream on Crunchyroll with audio in both Japanese and English. While it’s not as full of action as some fans might expect, the episode focuses on a more peaceful period following the main TV series finale. It shows the heroes adjusting to a quieter life now that fewer threats remain, allowing Deku to look forward to a positive future.

My Hero Academia Isn’t Over Yet

As a huge fan, I was so excited to see My Hero Academia seemingly wrap up its anime run, but the story isn’t over yet! They just announced a brand new anime short coming this summer! It’s called “I am a hero too,” and it’s based on a special five-page story Kohei Horikoshi created for the My Hero Academia Ultra Age fan book – that one that came out after the manga finished. It’s awesome that we’re getting even more content!

There’s no release date yet for the new My Hero Academia anime short, and it’s unclear if it will be available outside of Japan. The short features an older Eri and takes place after the anime’s finale. While it’s not a major story addition, it will serve as the final conclusion to the anime series.
