After a thrilling conclusion to its eighth season last fall, My Hero Academia is coming back for more! A new trailer was released to celebrate the anime’s ten-year anniversary and tease what’s next. Fans have already enjoyed a special episode showing what happens with Deku as an adult, and even more content is planned for release this summer.

My Hero Academia’s Anime Returns With New Special This Summer
The popular anime My Hero Academia is celebrating its tenth anniversary with more content! A special episode titled “More” aired this Spring, continuing the story after the original series finale and showing what happens with Deku and Ochaco as adults. And there’s one more anime release planned – an adaptation of a final story written by the creator.
The new short, “I am a hero too,” is based on extra story pages created by My Hero Academia author Kohei Horikoshi for the My Hero Academia Ultra Age fan book. This book included additional details and story content that didn’t make it into the main series, and this short continues the story after the original ending. It offers a glimpse into Deku’s future and is expected to be a significant addition for fans.
When Is My Hero Academia’s Anime Coming Back?
The new My Hero Academia short, “I am a hero too,” will debut at Anime Expo 2026 this July, giving a select group of fans the very first look. It’s scheduled to be released in Japan on August 3rd, and while international release dates haven’t been announced yet, it should be easy to find quickly, as the short is expected to be only a few minutes long.
This short film features an older Eri looking back on her experiences during the series’ main story, and gives us a glimpse into Deku’s life as a professional hero after the ‘More’ epilogue. It’s a final look at beloved characters as they grow into adulthood, and leaves fans hoping for future anime installments.
