The anime series My Hero Academia concluded its main story with its eighth season last year, showing how Izuku Midoriya brought about a new age of peace for heroes. But fans aren’t quite finished with Deku yet! A special episode called “More,” which adapts content from the manga, will be released in May. Plus, the world of UA High continues to expand with the My Hero Academia: Vigilantes series. However, one significant part of the anime franchise is coming to an end soon.
My Hero Academia: Ultra Impact, a free-to-play mobile role-playing game where players could build teams of heroes and villains, will be shutting down. After four years of bringing the popular anime series to mobile devices, the game’s creators announced on social media that service will end on May 18, 2026. They expressed gratitude for players’ support and directed them to the game for more information about the shutdown.
Ultra Impact’s Final Days
Before Ultra Impact officially shuts down in May, the game is offering current players some special rewards. Although you can no longer purchase anything with in-game currency, you’ll be able to recruit ten free characters before the end. No new characters will be added, but fans still have a chance to enjoy the game’s world, which has been running for over four years. With a large roster of playable characters, it could be a good time to experience this role-playing game one last time.
The future of the My Hero Academia franchise is uncertain. While the spin-off series, Vigilantes, is currently airing its second season, it’s not yet known if a third season will be made, though the manga provides enough material for one. Meanwhile, the main My Hero Academia anime is nearing its conclusion with only one episode remaining, leaving fans to question if this will be the final season.
So far, the author, Kohei Horikoshi, hasn’t said if he’ll continue the My Hero Academia manga, and hasn’t suggested the story of Class 1-A is over. Many anime fans are hoping Studio BONES will make one final movie to conclude the series, as the recent film, My Hero Academia: You’re Next, wasn’t explicitly stated as the last. If a new movie is made, it could potentially show the heroes as adults – a concept that many fans are eager to see.
