New EastEnders character Jasmine Fisher, played by Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness, is quickly becoming a topic of conversation among the residents of Albert Square.
Last month at The Prince Albert pub, Cindy Beale and Elaine Peacock were unexpectedly helped out by a new barmaid. They needed extra hands after letting Freddie Slater go, and Jasmine was eager to show them she could fill the position.
She and Elaine didn’t get along at first, but she quickly connected with Cindy, who then offered her a permanent job.
There was a problem: Elaine needed proof of her work eligibility before Jasmine could pay her, but Jasmine refused to provide it.
She’s been making up excuses for weeks, and even claimed she couldn’t find them because she’d recently moved.

Oscar Branning (Pierre Counihan-Moullier) is completely smitten, even though he doesn’t really know her well.
Okay, so here’s where things get interesting. As an audience member, we’re ahead of the game – we know a bit more than the characters do. I spent a night with Gina Knight, Francesca Henry plays her brilliantly, and after a little coaxing about her mother, she ended up getting hit by a car driven by none other than Nigel Bates – Paul Bradley, who always plays a convincingly shifty character. It’s a shocking turn of events, and it definitely throws a wrench into everything.
Laying lifeless on the road, she told Nigel that she was seeking revenge in Walford.
“I can’t die like this,” she uttered.
“She’s ruined everything. She needs to pay for what she did.”
Surely she’s referring to Cindy!
Oscar and Elaine were trying to find out more about Jasmine, searching online with a laptop. They were disappointed to find no information, and they quickly realized someone had noticed what they were doing.
I found it interesting how Jasmine explained why she wasn’t really on social media. She told Oscar she had pretty strict parents who didn’t let her have any accounts until she was 18, which seemed like her way of justifying not having much of an online presence.
He appeared to accept the explanation, but his strong feelings for her prevented him from recognizing that she was keeping secrets.

Under the guise of needing the loo, she grabbed his house keys and wandered over to No. 25.
She then asked Oscar’s brother-in-law, Peter Beale (played by Thomas Law), if she could stay with his family temporarily while she sorted out her housing situation. Peter agreed to let her stay, but questioned where she would sleep.
Fortunately, Jasmine had thought ahead. Cindy was away visiting her sister, and Jasmine was glad to stay in her room while she was gone.
Just why is Jasmine so keen to get close to Cindy, and could she be in danger?
