NBC’s 11-Season Hit Show With 95% RT Is Blowing Up on Paramount+ 22 Years Later

A classic sitcom is currently very popular on streaming services, even overshadowing a more recent continuation of the show that critics didn’t like.

I’m so excited to see that the Frasier reboot from 1993 is already a huge hit! According to Flix Patrol, it’s landed in the top ten most-watched shows on Paramount+ here in the US – specifically, it’s number nine! But it doesn’t stop there – it’s also number nine in Canada, and over the last week, it’s actually made it onto the top ten list in Australia, Ireland, and the UK too! It’s amazing to see it doing so well internationally.

The History and Impact of NBC’s Frasier — Explained

Created by the team behind Cheers, Frasier starred Kelsey Grammer as Dr. Frasier Crane, who moved back to his hometown of Seattle to host a radio show. Though he hoped for a fresh start, Frasier’s plans changed when his recently retired father, Martin Crane (played by the late John Mahoney), came to live with him, disrupting Frasier’s desire for a sophisticated, single life.

In addition to Kelsey Grammer and John Mahoney, Frasier featured David Hyde Pierce as Frasier’s brother Niles, Jane Leeves as the live-in housekeeper and physical therapist Daphne Moon, Peri Gilpin as Frasier’s producer Roz Doyle, and Dan Butler as radio personality Bob “Bulldog” Briscoe. The show ran for over 260 episodes and won a remarkable number of awards.

Though the original Frasier series ended in 2004, a revival premiered in 2023. However, despite featuring many of the original actors, the new Frasier hasn’t been as well-received. Currently, Rotten Tomatoes gives the revival a 57% ‘rotten’ rating, significantly lower than the 95% ‘fresh’ rating earned by the 1993 series.

Why Kelsey Grammer’s Next Role Will Look Nothing Like Frasier

Even though the show Frasier has ended, Kelsey Grammer continues to act in both movies and television, playing many different characters. Fans are especially excited to see him return to the role of Beast in Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday. This will be his first time fully reprising the character since a quick, uncredited appearance at the end of 2023’s The Marvels.

The new Marvel movie, Avengers: Doomsday, is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18th and promises to be the biggest crossover event in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far. It will feature characters from throughout the Marvel Multiverse, including those originally from the X-Men films produced by Fox. Kelsey Grammer will reprise his role, joining other popular actors like Alan Cumming, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, and Rebecca Romijn.

Frasier is currently available for streaming on Paramount+.
