Neighbours star predicts the series will return again for a spin-off or reunion special

Rebekah Elmaloglou, known for her role on the show Neighbours, believes the series will eventually come back.

The show was canceled by Freevee in February 2025, and the last episode aired in December. This wasn’t the first time the series had been canceled – Channel 5 previously ended it in 2022.

Elmaloglou, known for her role as Terese Willis, believes the show might come back in the future, possibly as a spin-off or special reunion episode, according to TV Week.

She felt confident that Jason Herbison, their excellent executive producer, wasn’t finished with the matter.

As a huge fan, I really believe the creator will find a way to revisit this show, maybe with a spin-off or a reunion. It’s simply too beloved and important to just disappear!

The show finished in December with many storylines unresolved, and the future of the town where it takes place was uncertain due to plans for major construction.

When asked about potential spin-offs, he suggested two ideas based on the former ‘Neighbours’ sets: ‘Ramsay Hills’ and ‘Robinson Towers’. He believes these could become successful new shows.

We’ve been discussing potential storylines for the final episodes. One idea involves a new suburban area called Ramsay Hills, which would feel familiar to fans of Neighbours. Another focuses on Robinson Towers, a modern high-rise hotel and apartment complex located in central Melbourne, offering a glimpse into city life.

He explained that in his ideal scenario, both shows would have short seasons that switched off. As soon as one season finished, the other would begin.

We might see familiar faces and characters reappear, and even revisit Ramsay Street if it’s still there. You never know what the future holds!

When asked about continuing the show in different ways, he replied that there were many options. He mentioned a Christmas movie as a possibility, but also noted he’s currently focused on other new projects.

Neighbours is available to stream on Prime Video.
