A popular drama from the mid-2000s, which many fans felt was cancelled prematurely, will soon be removed from Netflix next month. This is just one of many shows and movies leaving the streaming service in May. Several titles, including the comedy Blue Mountain State and all the Jaws movies, will be gone on May 1st, and Netflix will continue to remove content throughout the month. This particular drama is leaving exactly two years after it became available on the platform.

The show follows Kristine “Kris” Furillo, a teenager who gets a fresh start after leaving detention, thanks to her skill with horses. She finds work at a family ranch where she gets involved in competitive horse racing, romantic relationships, and family conflicts. Wildfire originally aired on ABC Family from 2005 to 2008 and, despite a dedicated fanbase, was cancelled after four seasons.

ABC Family’s Wildfire Deserved More Seasons

It’s unfortunate that Wildfire only lasted four seasons, as it was a genuinely enjoyable show. It provided a comforting yet dramatic escape, much like many popular series on Netflix today. The story centered around Kris and her journey of rebuilding her life at Raintree Ranch, offering a compelling theme of redemption and second chances. The show also realistically portrayed the exciting and demanding world of horse racing, with the horses themselves providing a calming influence for Kris. Plus, for those who enjoy romantic drama, Wildfire delivered a captivating love triangle that drove much of the plot and kept viewers engaged throughout its run, as Kris navigated complex relationships while pursuing her dreams as a jockey.

Despite a brief increase in viewers during its second season, the TV series Wildfire was cancelled by ABC Family in 2008 due to fluctuating ratings. Viewership fell back to its original levels by the third season, leading to the show’s end.
