Netflix has become very successful lately by creating animated series based on popular video games. Shows like the recent Splinter Cell: Deathwatch – which was quickly renewed for a second season – and adaptations of Devil May Cry, Far Cry, and Castlevania have proven popular. Now, Netflix is adding another well-known game character with a series expected to be more suitable for all ages than its other video game adaptations.
Netflix is reportedly creating an animated series based on the popular video game character, Crash Bandicoot. This would be the first time Crash has starred in his own dedicated show. The series is being produced by WildBrain Studios, the team behind the animated series Sonic Prime. While there’s no news yet on when it will be released, a TV show for Crash, who first appeared on PlayStation in 1996, seems like a natural next step after his many successful games.
It’s Time To Crash

Even though Crash Bandicoot is a popular PlayStation series, there hasn’t been a new main game since Crash Team Rumble in 2023. A fifth game was reportedly in development but ultimately canceled. Artist Nicholas Kole, who worked on the project, shared that she was disappointed fans wouldn’t get to experience it, saying that the story of the canceled Crash 5 will likely be upsetting when it eventually comes out.
Crash Bandicoot is known as a mostly silent protagonist, letting other characters do most of the talking in his games. We can expect the new Netflix series to follow this pattern, and WildBrain has a lot of creative freedom to develop the story. Given the wild and imaginative worlds the games have already visited, there are endless possibilities for a successful return to the Crash universe.
Netflix doesn’t have many more animated video game series planned for the rest of 2025, but 2026 will bring the return of Devil May Cry. The second season will continue Dante’s story after the exciting events of season one. While Devil May Cry didn’t hold back on mature content, Crash Bandicoot could offer a lighter, more family-friendly option for viewers.
