Netflix Just Surprise Added One of Prime Video’s Best Forgotten Thrillers

It feels like everyone’s sharing their shows these days! Streaming services are increasingly licensing their original content to competitors, and it’s a bit surprising to see. I used to think of Hulu or HBO Max letting older shows go to free, ad-supported services like Tubi as normal, but now even Netflix is adding shows that used to be exclusive to other platforms. I was excited to hear that Hulu’s Castle Rock is coming to Netflix, but I was really surprised this morning when I saw they also added both seasons of a thriller that originally streamed on Prime Video – one I’d almost forgotten about!

Netflix has added both seasons of the series Hunters, which originally aired on Prime Video. The show first launched in 2020, with a final season released in 2023. While still available on Amazon Prime Video, Hunters is now also streaming on Netflix, potentially reaching a wider audience and gaining the recognition many believe it deserves.

Created by David Weil, who also co-created the Apple TV series Invasion, Hunters is a 1970s-set thriller. The show centers around a team in New York City dedicated to tracking down and stopping Nazis who are attempting to resurface in the United States. A major draw was the cast, which featured the iconic Al Pacino alongside Logan Lerman, Jerrika Hinton, Lena Olin, Saul Rubinek, Carol Kane, Josh Radnor, and Jennifer Jason Leigh.

The initial excitement surrounding Hunters was largely due to Jordan Peele’s involvement as an executive producer. Coming just a few years after the huge success of Get Out, anything associated with Peele was generating a lot of anticipation.

Five years after it first aired, the show Hunters is now streaming on Netflix, potentially reaching a much wider audience. However, given the show has been off the air for so long and the first season had a conclusive ending, a revival seems unlikely, even with the recent surprise success of Suits on the platform. While anything is possible with streaming, there aren’t any indications that Hunters will return for another season.

However, the good news is that Hunters did provide a conclusion to its story, meaning viewers finding it on Netflix won’t be left with unanswered questions after Season 2.
