John Cena, the former WWE champion, is teaming up with comedian Eric André in a new comedy movie set to release this summer. Recent photos offer a sneak peek at the amusingly uncomfortable dynamic between their characters.
I’m so excited for the new Netflix comedy, Little Brother, starring John Cena and Eric André! Netflix just dropped a few first-look photos through Entertainment Weekly, and it looks hilarious. Apparently, this project reunites Cena and André after Cena was on The Eric André Show back in 2020. From what I understand, Cena plays a former ‘Big Brother’ figure to André’s character, and the dynamic is being described as a mix of What About Bob? and even a little bit of Parasite! You can check out the photos below – seriously, it looks like a must-watch.

A Little Brother Infiltrates His Former Big Brother’s Life
André, discussing his character Marcus, explained that while his intentions are good, Marcus has a history of being abandoned and left to fend for himself, having been through many families and foster homes throughout his life.
Years ago, John Cena’s friend, Rudd, occasionally spent time with a young boy named Marcus through a mentorship program. After two decades, Rudd had mostly forgotten about it until he received a call saying his “brother” was in the hospital. Rudd thought they meant his actual brother, Josh, but it turned out to be Marcus. Marcus quickly won over Rudd’s wife and kids, but Rudd wasn’t happy about the unexpected visit.
André described how he quickly wins over people – first the wife, then the children, and eventually everyone else. However, he admits this behavior frustrates Paul Rudd because he himself is a bit eccentric.
Honestly, this movie felt tailor-made for Eric André. They sent me the script to get my thoughts, and I was immediately curious about who would play the ‘straight man’ to his energy. As a huge fan of Eric and The Eric André Show, I’ve always loved his fearless, physical comedy and how he constantly pushes boundaries. It became clear this role needed someone to react to his wildness with a deadpan delivery, and I was thrilled to be that person. I really feel lucky to have been a part of it.
John Cena’s Casting Got the Film Quickly Greenlit
Andrew Mogel and Jarrad Paul wrote the movie, starting with an idea from David Bernad. Netflix loved the concept, and told the writers they’d approve the film instantly if John Cena agreed to star as the older brother. Luckily, Cena signed on right after reading the script.
You know, I really connected with Little Brother. As a movie fan, I think it’s something a lot of people can relate to. It’s about how we all try to build these ideal lives for ourselves, and the film perfectly captures what happens when everything goes completely wrong – when life throws you a major curveball.
Michelle Monaghan plays Deirdre, the wife of John Cena’s character, Rudd, in the film. The cast also includes Ego Nwodim as Lenore, Sherry Cola as Mia, Caleb Hearon as Olly, and Meloni as Josh. Matt Spicer directed the movie.
Little Brother will premiere on Netflix on June 26, 2026.
