Netflix is bringing the classic Scooby-Doo gang to life with a new live-action movie! We already knew a few actors were involved, but now the complete cast has been announced. Interestingly, one of the new stars played a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Netflix has announced the actors who will star in the new Scooby-Doo movie. Maxwell Jenkins will play Fred Jones, and Abby Ryder Fortson (known for her role in the Ant-Man movies) will be Velma Dinkley. Tanner Hagen is cast as Shaggy Rogers, and McKenna Grace will play Daphne Blake. We haven’t seen how Scooby-Doo himself will look yet, but with the main cast now confirmed, a team photo is likely coming soon.

Netflix’s Live-Action Series Will Be A Franchise Reimagining

Netflix’s new live-action movie aims to refresh the classic Scooby-Doo series while staying true to what fans love about it. The film will reveal how the Mystery Inc. gang first met, both each other and Scooby-Doo himself, all connected to a frightening mystery that throws their lives into chaos.
The story kicks off with Scooby-Doo seeing something truly strange – a supernatural murder. This event brings all the characters together to solve the mystery, though we learn Shaggy and Daphne have been friends for a long time already when things start to go wrong. Here’s the official description of the plot.
This new take on the classic mystery-solving team follows Shaggy and Daphne as they investigate a strange haunting during their last summer at camp. They discover a lost Great Dane puppy who might have seen a murder, and team up with Velma, a logical local, and Freddy, a mysterious new arrival, to uncover the truth. As they solve the case, they’re drawn into a terrifying nightmare that could reveal hidden secrets from everyone’s past.
As a lifelong fan of good storytelling, I’m really excited about the new live-action Scooby-Doo series! I’ve just learned that Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg – the team behind shows like Midnight Radio and High Fidelity – are going to be running the show. They’re writing it and executive producing, which is fantastic. Plus, a whole bunch of other talented people are also on board as executive producers, including Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, Andre Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, Adrienne Erickson, and Toby Haynes. It sounds like it’s in really capable hands!
Scooby-Doo will consist of eight episodes, but it currently doesn’t have a release date.
