This Netflix miniseries is a standout crime thriller from Fall 2025, and it unexpectedly became a global hit. Just days after premiering on October 27, 2025, the six-episode series quickly reached the #1 spot on Netflix worldwide and became a must-watch for binge-viewers.
Despite a busy month for Netflix with new seasons of shows like Nobody Wants This, The Diplomat, and Monster: The Ed Gein Story, a new crime thriller has become the most-watched title. Remarkably, it’s also beating out many popular Fall shows and classic horror movies, all just before Halloween.
The Asset Is The #1 Most-Watched Netflix Series In The World Right Now
The Danish crime thriller The Asset is currently the most popular series on Netflix, according to FlixPatrol. Despite receiving little attention in the US before its Monday premiere, it quickly became the top show worldwide. The Asset‘s fast rise to success has surpassed other recent Netflix hits like Boots and Mob War, both of which previously held the #1 spot this month.
It’s still early, but The Asset is shaping up to be Netflix’s biggest surprise hit of Fall 2025. The show centers around Tea, a secret agent who goes undercover to take down a criminal organization. While on the job, she connects with Ashley, the girlfriend of the gang’s leader, and finds herself torn between completing her mission and helping Ashley get away.
As a total thriller junkie, I’m honestly shocked that The Asset is flying under the radar. I checked Rotten Tomatoes, and there aren’t even any critic reviews up yet – that never happens for a show that’s doing so well on Netflix! And the best part? It’s only six episodes long, and each one is under 50 minutes. Seriously, it’s the perfect binge-watch. You could easily finish the whole series in an evening, or even a couple of sessions. It’s a real find!
Critically Acclaimed Crime Thrillers Continue To Dominate 2025 Streaming Charts
2025 could be known as a standout year for crime thrillers on streaming services. Shows like Paramount+’s Dexter: Resurrection and HBO’s Task, both receiving very positive reviews (95% on Rotten Tomatoes), were popular throughout late summer and early fall. Netflix’s Black Rabbit also gained significant attention in September, earning a 9 out of 10 rating from Ebaster.
Beyond these options, Paramount is currently airing two compelling crime dramas: Taylor Sheridan’s Mayor of Kingstown and Tulsa King. Meanwhile, Apple’s Slow Horses and Prime Video’s The Terminal List: Dark Wolf have become popular flagship thrillers for their respective streaming services. Now, Netflix’s The Asset joins this impressive lineup – if you love thrillers, don’t miss it this week!
