I’m completely hooked on this drama! It’s amazing how quickly its third season has become a phenomenon, actually knocking Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen off the top spot on Netflix. It’s so satisfying to finally see what happens with characters we’ve grown to love, both from this show and the original movie it spun off from – and millions of other viewers seem to think so too!
XO, Kitty is back for a third season, and it’s even more engaging than before! This season follows Kitty Covey as she returns to the Korean Independent School of Seoul (KISS), the school her mother went to. She’s excited to reconnect with her Korean family, friends, and a certain crush, but secrets and drama quickly emerge, potentially ruining her plans for a perfect senior year. The show also features some fun appearances, including a cameo from Lara Jean Covey, the main character from the original To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.
XO, Kitty Is a Breath of Fresh Air for Spring
Though not groundbreaking, XO Kitty is a charming and enjoyable romantic comedy that hits all the right notes. Despite being lighthearted, it still manages to be emotionally resonant and keep viewers hooked. The series also helps make K-dramas more approachable for American audiences who might be new to the genre, showcasing what makes them special. As critic Alison de Souza points out, it’s fun to see familiar K-drama tropes, like a character dramatically catching another as they fall, incorporated into a typical American high school story with a unique Asian perspective.
After a three-season build-up, fans will finally find out if Kitty and Min Ho end up together – and it delivers all the classic rom-com moments you’d expect. As Lacy Baugher from Paste Magazine puts it, the show is a refreshing teen drama “actually and unapologetically made for teens,” with short, breezy episodes under 35 minutes. XO, Kitty wholeheartedly embraces the over-the-top style of both teen life and the K-dramas that inspired it. It’s a loving tribute to those influences, openly aiming to be a charming and romantic story about growing up and the K-dramas that paved the way.
