As a longtime gamer, it’s tough seeing older games disappear. Unless you’ve saved your old consoles and cartridges, going back to play them can be really hard, or super pricey. Luckily, a lot of the classics are making a comeback with these retro collections on newer consoles! And if you grew up playing Rugrats games like I did, you’ll be excited to hear about a new collection that’s coming out – you definitely won’t want to miss it.
Limited Run Games is releasing a retro collection of Rugrats games for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5, both digitally and as physical copies. The Rugrats: Retro Rewind Collection features 6 classic games originally released in the 90s and early 2000s on systems like Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, and PlayStation 1. Due to different versions of some titles, the collection actually includes a total of 8 games. You can download it on May 15th, and preorders for the physical copies will open on May 1st.
Rugrats: Retro Rewind Collection Brings Nickelodeon Classics Back to Modern Consoles

The 90s cartoon Rugrats was a huge hit, and naturally, many video games were based on the show. Characters like Tommy Pickles have starred in various puzzle, platform, and movie-based games. Now, a collection bringing back six of these classic games is coming out for today’s gamers on May 15th. Here’s a complete list of the games included:
- Rugrats: Search for Reptar – 1998 PS1-exclusive puzzle mystery game
- The Rugrats Movie – 1998 Game Boy & Game Boy Color movie tie-in platformer. Both versions are included in the collection.
- Rugrats: Time Travelers – 1999 Game Boy Color platformer
- Rugrats: Studio Tour – 1990 PS1-exclusive action adventure game
- Rugrats in Paris: The Movie – 2000 adventure game released for PS1 and N64; Game Boy Color version was a side-scrolling platformer. Both versions are included in the collection.
- Rugrats: Castle Capers – 2001 Game Boy Advance exclusive platformer
I’m so excited! They’re bringing back these classic games and giving them a total upgrade for Switch and PS5. Not only will they look great on modern consoles, but they’re adding some really thoughtful improvements. You’ll be able to tweak the visuals with retro-style filters, which is awesome, and they’ve even included a ‘save anywhere’ feature! Seriously, as someone who lost way too much progress back in the 2000s, that’s a game-changer.

Starting May 15th, you’ll be able to download the game from the Nintendo eShop and PlayStation Store. Physical copies will also be available for both consoles! Pre-orders for the Rugrats: Retro Rewind Collection physical editions begin May 1st. Both consoles will have a Standard and Deluxe Edition, and pricing details will be announced when pre-orders open on the Limited Run Games website. If you enjoy classic games like the original Rugrats titles, this collection is definitely one to watch.
