A new Devil May Cry game might be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2, according to a source familiar with Nintendo’s plans. Historically, the Devil May Cry series hasn’t been available on Nintendo consoles. The first three games weren’t ported to a Nintendo platform until 2019 and 2020, and Devil May Cry 4 and Devil May Cry 5 are still missing. However, that could be about to change, and potentially in a big way.
According to Nintendo insider Nash Weedle, the next Devil May Cry game will be available on Nintendo platforms, unlike the previous installment. Specifically, it’s expected to launch on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Weedle also suggests that Capcom is considering bringing older Devil May Cry games to the console. This could mean updated versions of the first three games already on Switch, or finally releasing the fourth and fifth games on a Nintendo system. It’s even possible they could include DmC: Devil May Cry, but details are currently limited.
Capcom’s Nintendo Switch 2 Support
Capcom seems to be heavily invested in the new Nintendo Switch 2, demonstrated by the launch title Resident Evil Requiem. This is important because the Devil May Cry series uses the same game engine. Since the engine has been adapted for the Switch 2, and Resident Evil Requiem runs well on it, Devil May Cry 6 should also perform smoothly.
Just keep in mind that this isn’t official information, and things could change. It’s based on reports and rumors, and Capcom hasn’t confirmed anything – they usually don’t comment on these kinds of things. We’ll let you know if they do say anything, and we’ll update this story if needed.
For the past couple of years, people have been talking about a possible Devil May Cry 6, and those rumors are picking up again. However, there’s still no official confirmation or solid information. This is currently the most significant source of information available. Considering it’s been seven years since Devil May Cry 5, a new installment does seem likely to be in development.
