New Infamous Discovery Potentially Verifies Revival Rumors

Recent reports suggested PlayStation might be bringing back the Infamous series, and a new find seems to support those claims. The popular open-world superhero games haven’t had a new installment since Infamous: Second Son in 2014. The game’s developer, Sucker Punch, has since focused on creating the successful Ghost of Tsushima and Ghost of Yotei. Now, it looks like they might be considering a return to the Infamous universe.

In 2022, Sucker Punch Productions announced that they weren’t currently developing any new games in the Infamous or Sly Cooper series. The studio hadn’t worked on Sly Cooper since 2005. However, they didn’t completely rule out revisiting either franchise in the future, and it now seems like that future might be here.

Podcaster Colin Moriarty noticed that Sucker Punch removed a previous post stating they wouldn’t revisit the Infamous series. The reason for the deletion is unclear, but it’s likely connected to recent rumors suggesting Sucker Punch is now working on a new Infamous game. These rumors make it seem even more probable that a new project is in development.

If Sucker Punch is working on a new project related to Infamous, the most likely outcome would be a remaster of the original Infamous, Infamous 2, or a collection containing both. Currently, these games are only playable on the PS3, making it difficult for players to experience them today. Updating them for the PS5 with improved graphics and performance would be a significant achievement and likely a guaranteed success for PlayStation.

A new PlayStation presentation is expected within the next month, and there’s a good chance we’ll finally hear about a possible revival of the Infamous series then. As soon as any official announcement is made, we’ll share all the information here on ComicBook.
