The Marvel Zombie saga resurfaces, now featuring an adult-oriented twist! Originally introduced in 2005, Marvel Zombies depicted a world where once-mighty superheroes were transformed into flesh-eating zombies. Since then, this franchise has made occasional appearances, and was even adapted for the animated series Marvel’s What If…? on Disney+. In addition to the upcoming spinoff series set to debut around Halloween, a new Marvel Zombies comic book series is also in the works, promising an extra dose of terror with a Parental Advisory label.
Marvel has unveiled the upcoming limited series, “Marvel Zombies: Red Band“, penned by first-time Marvel Comics writers Ethan S. Parker and Griffin Sheridan, alongside artist Jan Bazaldua known for his work on Stormbreaker. Starting next week, Parker and Sheridan will also launch their debut in “Bring on the Bad Guys: Green Goblin” #1. The new comic, “Marvel Zombies: Red Band“, will carry a Parental Advisory warning and be encased in a polybag with an explicit content notice. Comics previously labeled as “Red Band” include titles such as “Blood Hunt“, “Wolverine: Revenge“, “Blade“, “Daredevil: Unleash Hell“, and “Punisher“.
Speaking about “Marvel Zombies: Red Band,” Griffin and I find it an absolute dream come true to work on this project. Being avid fans of the Marvel Universe throughout our lives, and having openly declared our passion for the horror genre drenched in blood, this assignment perfectly aligns with our interests. With Jan Bazaldua and the entire team’s extraordinary talents shaping this wild story, we are reshaping Marvel history in chilling new ways, and we cordially invite you to join us on this thrilling journey.
Ethan and I are similar to eccentric scientists mixing various elements we adore within the “Marvel Zombies: Red Band,” as Sheridan stated. This gruesome, bloody, and downright messy tale encompasses major Marvel events throughout history. Given our deep affection for the Marvel Universe, it’s a pity that we must dismantle it in such a grisly manner, reminiscent of the sight after tearing open a new comic book package. Catch you there, fellow Marvel enthusiasts!
In this rendition, illustrations by Greg Land, Ryan Brown, Clayton Crain, and Scott Koblish showcase the undead versions of the Fantastic Four. The synopsis for the debut issue of “Marvel Zombies” reveals that it will delve into the origin tale of the Fantastic Four, suggesting they transform into zombies after acquiring their remarkable powers. Upon their return to Earth, the group exhibits a craving for human flesh, allowing readers to witness which heroes flourish and reach their peak capabilities, while others meet gruesome ends.
