Sony is preparing a new update for both PS5 and PS5 Pro consoles. This update will include significant improvements to the DualSense controller. Sony usually releases big PS5 system updates in the fall, and while it’s not quite fall yet, a new patch is coming soon. This initial update may be a precursor to a larger firmware release in the coming weeks.
A new update for the PS5 will be available on September 17th, and one of the key improvements is easier DualSense controller pairing. This feature was tested with a limited group of players starting in July, and now Sony is rolling it out to all PlayStation users worldwide, enhancing the DualSense experience.
What Does PS5 Controller Pairing Do?

Controller pairing lets you connect your PS5 DualSense controller to devices other than the PS5, like PCs and phones. Previously, you could only connect the controller to one device at a time and had to manually reconnect it each time you switched. Now, that’s changing – you won’t have to do that anymore.
With the latest update, DualSense controllers can now connect to up to four devices simultaneously. This lets you easily switch between using your controller with a PS5, a PC, or a phone/tablet without needing to re-pair it each time. While not everyone will use this feature, it’s been a popular request from some PlayStation fans.
This Isn’t the Only PS5 Improvement
I’m really excited about this new PS5 update! Not only are they adding that feature we’ve all been waiting for, but they’re also including a power-saving mode. You can turn it on in the settings, and it’ll use less energy when you’re playing certain games. Right now, it works with games like *Death Stranding 2*, *Demon’s Souls*, and *Ghost of Yotei*, and Sony says they’re planning to add support for even more games in the future. It’s great to see them thinking about energy efficiency!
