A recent report suggests that two Star Wars games are in development for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Currently, the list of games planned for the Switch 2’s 2026 launch isn’t very exciting. Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is the biggest title announced so far, with smaller games like Mario Tennis Fever and Pokemon Pokopia also planned. While this isn’t a bad selection, it could be stronger. There are also some third-party games coming, including Resident Evil Requiem and the soon-to-be-released Dispatch. These new Star Wars games don’t have release dates yet, but Nintendo Switch 2 owners will be hoping to play them next year to bolster the console’s lineup.
According to industry insider Nash Weedle, Disney wants future Star Wars games released on the Nintendo Switch 2, and is also considering bringing older titles to the console. Weedle, who has a generally reliable track record with some confirmed leaks from 2025, reports that EA is working to port Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor to the Switch 2. Currently, neither of these games are available on any Nintendo system.
Some of the Best Modern Star Wars Games
Recent Star Wars games haven’t quite lived up to the quality of older titles, but Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor stand out as some of the best modern installments. Fallen Order, released in 2019 by Respawn Entertainment and EA, quickly became a commercial success, selling over 10 million copies. It also received generally positive reviews, earning a score of 81 on Metacritic. This led to a sequel, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, in 2023. While Survivor was critically even better, achieving an 85 on Metacritic, it didn’t sell as well as its predecessor. The game also launched with significant performance problems, particularly on PC, which frustrated many players. Respawn Entertainment is also known for creating popular games like Apex Legends and the Titanfall series.
A Great Time for Nintendo Switch 2 Users to Jump In
Nintendo fans have historically received these games later than other platforms, but this release is well-timed since a third and final game in the series is already in development, according to EA. Importantly, these AAA Star Wars games have never been available on the Nintendo Switch, so this will be the first chance for Switch owners to experience them.
Just keep in mind that this isn’t official information, so don’t take it as fact. We’d love to hear your thoughts, though! Feel free to share them in the comments below or join the discussion on the ComicBook Forums.
