According to a new report, Capcom is working on a third remake of an older Resident Evil game. For the past year, reliable sources have suggested remakes of both Resident Evil: Code Veronica and Resident Evil 0 are in the works. Although Capcom hasn’t officially confirmed anything, the Code Veronica remake is rumored to be released in 2027, meaning we might get a first look at it soon. Beyond that, Capcom is reportedly planning another remake that will revisit the original Resident Evil’s classic style.
A reliable source, Dusk Golem, who has accurately leaked information about Resident Evil games in the past, says that Capcom is actively working on a remake of the original Resident Evil. However, Dusk Golem emphasized that the remake is still several years away from release and won’t be publicly revealed for quite some time. Capcom plans to release other Resident Evil titles before showing off this remake.
If this report is true, this would mark the second remake of the original Resident Evil game. The first remake came out for the GameCube in 2002, and has since been released on many different platforms, remaining the most popular way to experience the first Resident Evil story. A new remake would likely update the game to match the modern style of recent remakes like those for Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4.
Resident Evil 10 Is Guaranteed to Happen, Too

In addition to the several Resident Evil remakes currently in the works, Capcom will definitely create Resident Evil 10. Since its release in February, Resident Evil Requiem has been a huge success with both critics and players, becoming the fastest-selling game in the Resident Evil series.
Given the recent success, it’s almost certain that Capcom will create a new, main Resident Evil game. They’re probably brainstorming ideas now, alongside their ongoing remake projects. For fans, this means the future of the series looks brighter than ever, with plenty more to anticipate in the coming years.
