New Street Fighter Trailer Shows Off Wild Video Game Movie

Paramount Pictures released a new trailer for their upcoming movie, Street Fighter, which is based on the famous fighting game series by Capcom. The film, an action comedy, will be in theaters on October 16, 2026.

The story takes place in 1993 and follows Ryu and Ken, two former friends and skilled fighters, who are pulled back into the world of combat. Chun-Li brings them together for the World Warrior Tournament, a fierce competition filled with powerful opponents. However, the tournament is more than it seems – a dangerous plot is unfolding that will force Ryu and Ken to confront each other and their troubled histories. If they fail, the consequences will be dire.

What does the new Street Fighter trailer show?

The video introduces the actors playing the main characters, including new versions of popular figures like Ken, Ryu, and Chun-Li. It shows Andrew Koji as Ryu and Noah Centineo as Ken, who were once friends but have grown apart. They reconnect through a fighting tournament, which offers them a chance to make things right. The trailer also gives viewers a sneak peek at the movie’s thrilling action scenes.

Kitao Sakurai, the director of ‘Bad Trip,’ is heading up the new ‘Street Fighter’ movie. He co-wrote the script with T.J. Fixman, building on a story idea from Dalan Musson and Gary Dauberman. The film boasts a large cast, including Callina Liang as Chun-Li, Roman Reigns as Akuma, Orville Peck as Vega, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as Balrog, Jason Momoa as Blanka, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Cody Rhodes as Guile, Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, Eric André as Don Sauvage, Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim, Olivier Richters as Zangief, Hirooki Goto as E. Honda, Rayna Vallandingham as Juli, and Alexander Volkanovski as Joe.

Masahiro Sakurai, known for directing episodes of the Twisted Metal series, is directing this video game adaptation. Before Sakurai joined, directors Danny and Michael Philippou (known for Talk to Me and Bring Her Back) were initially attached to the project. Jason Momoa is a producer alongside Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Takayuki Nakayama, and Stefan Makhoul. JJ Hook, Jay Ashenfelter, Kenzo Tsujimoto, and Haruhiro Tsujimoto are executive producers.
