New Ubisoft Update Sheds Light on The Division 3 Release Date

Ubisoft recently announced that a new Tom Clancy’s The Division 3 is in development. It’s been seven years since The Division 2 and ten years since the original game. While Massive Entertainment, the studio behind the series, has released Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Star Wars Outlaws in the meantime, those games weren’t as successful with critics or players. This makes returning to the popular Division series a logical next step, and Ubisoft confirmed they were doing just that back in 2023.

Although announced in 2023, development of the game seems to be in its early stages. Tech 4 Gamers recently noted that Massive Entertainment is still actively hiring, even for leadership roles like Lead Game Designer and Animation Director. This suggests the game is either just finishing up pre-production or has only recently begun full development. This isn’t encouraging news for players eager to experience this online, cover-based, third-person shooter RPG.

The Division 3 Release Date

Massive Entertainment must have multiple teams working simultaneously, considering they released two major games in consecutive years. Since Ubisoft announced The Division 3 was in development in 2023, it’s surprising that the game doesn’t seem very far along. Typically, a game like this would be expected to launch in 2027 or 2028. However, recent job postings suggest a release date closer to 2029 or even 2030, though 2028 is still possible. The lack of leaks or information about the game also indicates it’s not near completion, as Ubisoft games usually have details surface before launch.

Currently, we can only guess what’s happening, and that probably won’t change soon. However, since development appears to be increasing, we might find out more next year.
