After a decade, Naughty Dog is reportedly starting work on a new Uncharted game. It’s currently unclear whether this will be Uncharted 5 or a different kind of project, such as a remake of the original game, a spin-off, or something completely unexpected. Details are limited, but the report suggests the series is moving forward alongside the studio’s new game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, which isn’t expected to launch until 2027 at the earliest.
It’s been a full decade since the release of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End in 2016, the critically acclaimed and commercially successful game from Naughty Dog and PlayStation. Although the developers initially suggested they were finished with the series, many expected them to return to it relatively quickly. That didn’t happen. In fact, Naughty Dog hasn’t released a completely new game since 2020, meaning both the Uncharted series and the studio itself have been quiet for a while. While Uncharted: The Lost Legacy came out in 2017, it was a standalone expansion and didn’t receive the same positive response as a full Uncharted title. The 2022 Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection was simply a re-release of existing games. Fortunately for fans, it looks like more Uncharted content is on the way.
New Uncharted Report
I’m really excited about a new report coming from a source called Alir – they’ve been right about leaks before, so people are starting to pay attention! Apparently, Naughty Dog isn’t just working on one game right now, but two. And the big news is, one of those projects is an Uncharted game! That’s all we know for now, though. No hints about what the story will be, when we’ll see it announced, or even when it might come out. It’s even possible this game isn’t for the PS5 at all, but could be aimed at the next PlayStation – the PS6!
It might seem like we’re jumping on the bandwagon after a Naughty Dog director hinted at a new Uncharted game. However, this information actually surfaced before that hint, and is now gaining attention because of it.
Keep in mind that this report should be viewed with some skepticism. We’d also love to hear your thoughts – feel free to leave a comment or join the discussion on the ComicBook Forum!
