After a long wait, Power Rangers toys are back on store shelves thanks to Playmates Toys’ new line, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Re-Ignition. The first release featured characters from the original Power Rangers season, and now we’re getting a preview of what’s coming in the second wave, including the powerful Thunderzords and the combined Thunder Megazord.
The first wave of Power Rangers Re-Ignition included the original five Rangers and their individual Dinozords, which combined to form the Megazord. The second wave will be similar, featuring all of the Thunderzords that can combine into the Thunder Megazord. You can see pictures of all the new Zords and the combined Megazord below.
What Does Power Rangers Re-Ignition Wave 2 Actually Include?

The next release of Re-Ignition toys will let you collect each of the Thunderzords separately – the Red Dragon Tyrannosaurus, Unicorn Triceratops, Griffin Sabertooth Tiger, Lion Mastadon, and Firebird Pterodactyl – so you can combine them all to build the mighty Thunder Megazord.
The new Playmates Toys collection features the Red Dragon Thunderzord, which can switch between Dragon and Warrior forms. The Firebird Thunderzord also comes with small Ranger figures, letting you recreate battles and scenes at the correct scale.
The fully assembled Thunder Megazord looks fantastic on display. However, it remains to be seen if the Thunderzords can also combine into the Thunderzord Assault Team formation – the one where the Red Dragon Thunderzord in its Warrior mode could ride on top.
This new series of action figures will feature updated versions of the Red, Yellow, and Black Rangers – Aisha, Rocky, and Adam – after they gain their powers. A Lord Zedd figure and a Z-Putty figure are also planned, but because the Squatt and King Sphinx figures were cancelled, it’s hard to say for sure if these will actually be released until they’re available in stores.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Re-Ignition Wave 2 is expected to hit later this year.
