New World: Aeternum Delisted From Stores, Servers to Shut Down on January 31, 2027

Following Amazon’s earlier announcement that they were ending development on the MMORPG New World: Aeternum, the game is no longer available for purchase in online stores. Although the game’s Steam page remains online, you can’t currently buy it. Amazon Game Studios has confirmed that the game servers will shut down completely on January 31, 2027.

Players new to the game won’t be able to buy New World: Aeternum anymore, but those who already own it will still be able to play for another year. The developers won’t be adding any new content, so the current Nighthaven season will continue until the game’s servers are turned off.

The studio expressed its gratitude to players for their dedication and enthusiasm. In a blog post, they said they were thankful for the time spent building the world of Aeternum together, and that they created something truly special. Although they’re sad to see it end, they feel honored to have shared the experience with the community.

As a huge fan of New World: Aeternum, I was a little sad to hear the developers are wrapping things up after another year. They said it’s been amazing creating this adventure with us, and they really want to give the game a proper sendoff – something truly worthy of all the heroes we’ve built. Honestly, it’s just a really heartfelt thank you from the team for letting us all share in their world, and it means a lot!

The game’s official website confirms the in-game store will close on July 20, 2026. This means players won’t be able to purchase Marks of Fortune or any other items after that date, and previously purchased Marks of Fortune won’t be refunded.

Amazon Game Studios stopped actively developing New World: Aeternum in October 2025. They stated players could continue to enjoy the game for the time being. Along with this announcement, they made the Rise of the Angry Earth expansion available to all PC players for free.

To celebrate four years since its PC launch, the creators of New World have acknowledged the amazing support of its players. They shared that player feedback was key to building the game’s world, Aeternum, into what it is today. However, after four years of updates and a recent release on consoles, they’ve decided it’s no longer possible to continue adding new content to the game.

Amazon is shutting down the game New World: Aeternum as part of broader layoffs that impacted over 14,000 employees last year. These cuts affected various parts of the company, including its video game division. Amazon stated it’s now prioritizing simpler, AI-driven games, and focusing on areas where the company excels.
