Crissy Froyd doesn’t want to stay silent.
Following criticism from a sports writer, Dianna Russini resigned from The Athletic due to reports of a relationship with New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel. She was then fired from her position with USA Today Sports.
USA TODAY Sports has ended its working relationship with Crissy Froyd, effective immediately, the company announced on April 16th. They stated her recent comments did not align with their standards of professionalism and ethical behavior.
Following her firing, Froyd told TopMob News, “I’m so disappointed.”
I’ve been working with this company for a long time, and I mentioned something about a woman’s unethical behavior. As an independent contractor, I’m still shocked by the reaction—I really can’t believe it.
After photos surfaced on April 7th showing Erin Andrews’ husband Will Vrabel and ESPN’s Sam Ponder’s husband, Andrew Russini, dancing closely together on a rooftop, both men dismissed the pictures as harmless. Vrabel described them as “completely innocent,” and Russini said they didn’t accurately reflect the entire group of six people who were socializing that day.
Froyd accused reporter Dianna Russini of lying after she posted the resignation letter she sent to The Athletic. In the letter, Russini stated she disagreed with the way the story about the alleged affair was being presented.
On April 14th, Froyd posted on X, suggesting someone was likely forced to resign due to threats of job loss. They added a dismissive “good riddance” message and stated they were aware of the person’s past actions, implying those actions harmed female athletes who have followed the rules.

Froyd has become even more critical of Russini, claiming she had inappropriate relationships with NFL coaches who were already married.
She revealed in a statement to the Daily Caller, which she also shared on Instagram, that everyone already knew what she was doing. She described it as an open secret within the NFL reporting community.
During the scandal, Froyd also addressed her past relationship with former college football quarterback JT Daniels, explaining it started after they had finished working together professionally.

I was in a close relationship with JT Daniels, and like many people in similar situations, we were sexually intimate. However, our relationship started only after his football career was over.
Froyd stated firmly that she has never had a sexual relationship with a player or coach to advance her career. She implied that Dianna could not make the same claim, highlighting a key distinction between them.
TopMob News has contacted representatives for Russini, Vrabel, and Daniels for a statement, but they haven’t responded yet.
