Nicolas Cage & Riko Shibata Have Date Night at Spider-Noir Premiere

Nicolas Cage and Riko Shibata’s latest date night is a dream scenario.

The couple walked the red carpet at the New York City premiere of the Prime Video series Spider-Noir on May 13th, holding hands and beaming for the photographers.

Nicolas Cage, age 62, and his 31-year-old partner Riko were both stylishly dressed. Cage wore a classic black suit with a blue patterned tie, while Riko chose a white shirt with black lace sleeves under a black dress. They share a 3-year-old daughter named August Francesca Coppola Cage.

Set in 1930s New York City, Spider-Noir introduces Nicolas as the main character—an older private investigator who also happens to be a superhero. This is his first time leading a TV series, and it’s the newest addition to the Spider-Man story.

The movie premiere was a special date night for Nicolas and Riko, who became parents to a daughter in September 2022. They named their daughter after Nicolas’ late father, August Floyd Coppola, who passed away in 2009. They had originally thought about honoring him in a different way, but ultimately chose to use his name.

He revealed that he and his wife plan to name their daughter Lennon Augie—Augie as a tribute to his father—and call her Lenny as a nickname. He shared this with Kelly Clarkson in an interview several months before the baby was due.

Nicolas has three children: August, as well as Weston Coppola Cage, age 35, with his former partner Christina Fulton, and Kal-El Coppola Cage, age 20, with ex-wife Alice Kim.

The actor known for Face/Off has spoken about the challenges and rewards of raising his children, explaining that each one has brought a unique experience to his role as a parent.

In a July 2024 interview with The New Yorker, Nicolas explained that his three children each have different mothers. He admitted this wasn’t the family structure he’d envisioned, but it’s the reality. He noted that each child is unique and requires a different level of care and attention.

The actor explained to Access Hollywood that being a good father means understanding you have a duty to your children.

He said becoming a father completely transformed his life, and what stuck with me most was realizing how much more value he found in those small, everyday moments with his kids – just a single minute of their time – than in all of his professional achievements, like his art, his fame, or even his home. It’s a beautiful sentiment, and one I completely understand as a longtime fan and someone who also cherishes family.

Furnish, who is twelve years younger than John, shared with the U.K.’s Sunday Times in 2015 that he feels fortunate to have become a parent when he did. He explained that nothing can truly prepare you for the challenges and life changes that come with parenthood, and that he’s more confident and settled in his career now than he would have been twenty years ago.
