Wow, the summer heat’s been intense so far, but things are really heating up with the upcoming release of Ninja Gaiden Ragebound on July 31st!
According to Parisian developer DotEmu, who are known for their work on games like Windjammers 2 and Streets of Rage 4 (both retro throwbacks), they’re working on something that appears to be the retro-style game revival we’ve been eagerly waiting for.
In this freshly introduced stage, themed around construction, you’ll find yourself dodging bulldozers and maneuvering through scaffolding. Along the way, spooky adversaries will try to hinder your progress, but you can use the surroundings for cover when confronting the winged boss Rhyvashi.

Here’s what the video’s blurb says:
Accompany Kumori and Kenji as they make their way through a construction site of a towering building filled with demons. The ninjas climb the structure’s bare framework, constantly being pursued by Rhyvashi, the level’s boss, who aims to halt their advance using powerful attacks that span large areas. Players must learn to use precision and timing to dodge these attacks and defeat enemies at the same time.
The programmer has successfully captured the 90s pixelated aesthetic, yet the abundance of animations and vibrant colors appear to strain contemporary hardware. Nevertheless, everything looks incredibly smooth.
Could our main focus be ensuring the game’s difficulty level is balanced appropriately? It’s understood that Ninja Gaiden has a reputation for being very challenging, but we would hope for some accommodations to make it more accessible for less experienced players. The Talisman system, as hinted in the video, might offer such solutions.
The game is set to be released in around three weeks’ time, so we won’t need to wait for too much longer to discover more about it. What are your thoughts on this beautifully animated remake? Share your opinions with us in the comments section below.
